Former Ohio shooting guard AJ Brown has committed to the Florida Gators out of the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Brown, the old brother of current UF freshman guard Isaiah Brown, will come to Gainesville after three seasons with the Bobcats. The 6’4 scorer is coming off a career-best year in 2024-25, pouring in 13.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. He did that while shooting better than 47% from the field and knocking down 39% of his 3-point attempts.

He also scored in double-figures in 19 of the team’s 29 games, with four 20-plus point performances. The Gators, coming off a national championship season, have been in the market for guards in the portal, replacing All-American Walter Clayton, as well as double-digit scorers Alijah Martin and Will Richard.

Brown will be a big piece of that, as well Princeton transfer Xaivian Lee, who chose UF over St. John’s, Kansas and a host of other programs. Florida is expected to return standout forward Thomas Haugh, guard Denzel Aberdeen and center Reuben Chinyelu from last year’s team. Meanwhile, forward Alex Condon is exploring the NBA Draft process after receiving a handful of first-round projections.
