Oklahoma expected to hire Texas Tech’s Emmett Jones as wide receivers coach

Oklahoma is expected to hire Texas Tech’s Emmett Jones as wide receivers coach, sources tell On3.
Jones, a former successful Texas high school coach, helped Texas Tech finish 8-5 in Year 1 under Joey McGuire. Jones had spent the previous three seasons at Kansas.
L’Damian Washington was Oklahoma’s interim receivers coach in 2022. He was hired in January 2022 as an offensive analyst, then was promoted to the interim role in August after the resignation of receiver coach Cale Gundy.

Jones just finished his second stint at Texas Tech. He also was with the Red Raiders from 2016-18 as the outside receivers coach after spending the 2015 season as Tech’s director of player development.
Jones’ background as a high school coach in the Dallas area, including serving as the head coach at South Oak Cliff from 2012-14, should help Oklahoma’s recruiting efforts in the Metroplex.
