Four-star WR Jayden Gibson has completed his whirlwind recruitment with the Sooners by committing to Oklahoma.

Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange wide receiver Jayden Gibson has committed to Oklahoma a week after he decommitted from Florida.

“I feel like OU has a great coaching staff coming as well as great players already there and great ones committed,” Gibson said of why he picked the Sooners. “It felt like home, honestly.”

This past weekend, the 6-foot-5, 190-pound Gibson took his official visit to Oklahoma.

“The visit was great. As I said, definitely felt like home. The people are great, facilities are great, and get even better in the coming years. The city of Norman is pretty cool, not too much, but not too little either, you know.”

Gibson also quickly built a bond with the OU coaching staff.

“I ain’t going to lie, the relationship I have with the coaches is pretty strong considering how much time I’ve been given to figure it all out. They call me and text me every day. We have been talking a lot and then being up there on the visit really made me realize they are good people.”

Oklahoma is now up to 16 commitments in the 2022 class.

One thing that helped sell Jayden Gibson on the Sooners is his tight relationship with four-star quarterback Nick Evers.

Like Gibson, Evers was once a Florida commitment. But he backed off that pledge and committed to the Sooners on Monday.

Jayden Gibson Scouting Summary

On3 Director of Scouting Charles Power wrote the following on Jayden Gibson as a prospect:

Tall, ball-winner who uses his stature and catch radius to make contested grabs. One of the taller top receivers in the 2022 cycle, measuring at over 6-foot-5 prior to his senior year. Has also added 10 to 15 pounds of good weight heading into his final year. Excels in jump ball situations in the red zone, showing the ability to win in-air over top cornerbacks on the camp circuit. Has strong ball skills, locating and tracking the ball over his shoulder in addition to high-pointing. Runs well for his size and doesn’t lumber like some taller receivers. Will need to continue working on his change of direction and polishing his routes at the next level.

The On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting services, currently ranks Gibson as the nation’s No. 108 overall prospect and the No. 17 wide receiver in the 2022 class.
