Oklahoma offers Iowa State commit R Mason Thomas
The recruitment of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Cardinal Gibbons four-star EDGE and Iowa State commit R Mason Thomas is far from over.
Oklahoma has extended an offer to the On300 recruit, Thomas announced Wednesday on social media.
This comes as Thomas is set to visit the Sooners this month.
The Sooners are not the only team working to flip Thomas. Indiana and Kentucky are two other schools that are working hard to try and flip him.
The On3 Consensus – a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies – has R Mason Thomas as the No. 348 overall recruit in the country.
He is ranked even higher in the 2022 On300 ranking, slotting in at No. 263. That makes him the No. 27 EDGE in the country and No. 34 prospect from the state of Florida.

Thomas is one of the few top players in the country to commit but not sign with a program during the early signing period.
He told On3’s Chad Simmons in December that he had no reason to sign early so he didn’t.
“If I have until February to sign, and I am not an early enrollee, then I didn’t think I needed to sign early,” Thomas told On3. “I am committed to Iowa State and they did bring it up, and maybe push a little for me to sign early, but I always knew I was going to sign late.”
The Sooners have the No. 8 recruiting class in the 2022 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking. The class has no EDGE commits among the group, but do have eight defensive commits in the group.
