Oklahoma and Oklahoma State play the last game, for now, in the Red River Rivalry once the Sooners head to the SEC in 2024.

But former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy added the Week 10 matchup to his ultimate 2023 college football schedule. Basically, the games you have to watch this season.

He broke down why on Always College Football.

“There’s a few options here that we could have picked, could have picked LSU at Alabama, we’ve already been to Tuscaloosa. Could have picked Notre Dame at Clemson, we’ve already picked Clemson. So what we haven’t picked is Stillwater, Oklahoma. We’re going to Oklahoma at Oklahoma State in Week 10,” McElroy said. “Why? It’s the last game of Bedlam. Oklahoma is en route to the SEC. Oklahoma State’s really ticked off about it.

“If you don’t think that game is going to be as chaotic and as difficult of a road environment as Oklahoma will face all year, I think you’re crazy.”

It’s called Bedlam for a reason because you never truly know what’s going to happen between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State on any given season.

“This game is going to be absolutely bonkers,” McElroy said. “And we know Mike Gundy has not had great success over the course of what’s been an incredible career. He has not had great success against the Sooners. Can he send them out in the last battle of Bedlam for a while? I know it’s going to come back at some point …

“I think it’ll come back at some point. Texas A&M fans and Texas fans said never again to their rivalry and that’ll be renewed here in a couple years. So Oklahoma is heading to Stillwater in a place where there’s absolutely no love lost for OU. That game’s going to be must-see entertainment there in Week 10.”

Brent Venables reveals where he wants to improve at Oklahoma

After a 6-7 campaign, many picked Oklahoma to bounce back in a big way this fall and compete for a Big 12 title. But to get there, Venables and the Sooners have to fix the little things.

Venables joined The Number One College Football Show and gave a lengthy answer.

“It’s a million things but it’s about being efficient and sometimes less is more in every way,” Venables said. “But being efficient in all three phases. You’re looking for the inches, you know, that are everywhere in regards to the difference between winning and losing. You lose games by four points, by three points. You lose an overtime game, you lost a seven-point game to the Big 12 champions.

“… Let’s start there, what broke down? And so you’re constantly finding ways to be a better leader from an efficiency standpoint, and then you’re always finding ways to be a better teacher.”
