Michael Fasusi Announcement11

Despite a down year on the field for Oklahoma, Lewisville (Texas) offensive tackle and Sooners signee Michael Fasusi has been a major bright spot in their recruiting class.

He headlines a class than ranks No. 16 nationally and is the lone five-star for OU this cycle. On Thursday, that status was cemented as Fasusi was named a five-star and ranked the country’s No. 7 overall prospect in On3’s final 2025 rankings update.

In addition to that, he is the No. 1 offensive tackle recruit in the land.

The 6-foot-5, 300-pound Fasusi committed to the Sooners over Texas, Texas A&M and others on August 21. Relationships with head coach Brent Venables and offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh helped put OU over the top for the trench monster this summer.

“Coach B coaches at a high level, and I really believe I will be in good hands,” he told On3’s Chad Simmons when he committed. “He was a key piece in my decision. People don’t know this, but he is a funny guy. What stands out most is how real he is. His numbers with developing offensive linemen are more than impressive, but he never talks about them. He is not that guy. Coach B is humble, he is real and he is honest. Our relationship is deep.”

Multiple other schools, including rivals Texas and Texas A&M, tried to flip him amid the Sooners’ struggles. But ultimately he locked in his decision during the Early Signing Period and is expected to compete for a starting spot this spring and fall.

Scout’s Take on Michael Fasusi

On3’s Scouting and Rankings team compares Fasusi to former Alabama star and first-round NFL Draft pick Alex Leatherwood. They write this about him as a prospect:

“Fasusi is a physical offensive lineman with natural brute strength and developmental upside. Measured in at 6-foot-5, 299 pounds with 9.75-inch hands at the On3 Elite Series prior to his senior season. Has plus length for the position, with arms that measure 34 ⅞ inches. Has a barrel-chested build. Added significant size during the off-season between his sophomore and junior years. Spends most of his time as a left tackle, but has also played some on the right side. A bull in the run game. Latches onto defensive linemen and keeps his feet moving on contact. Gets a considerable push at the point of attack. Plays with an edge and works to finish blocks with authority. Showed encouraging improvement on the field as a junior, adding play strength. A solid overall athlete with upside to continue improving as a pass protector. Can improve lateral agility and balance.”
