Oklahoma is set to hire Taylor Redd as the program’s assistant general manager, working as Jim Nagy’s No. 2 and helping run the front office operation, a source told On3. Redd, who most recently worked with Jake Rosenberg at The Athlete Group, will be involved in all aspects of roster management, scouting, player acquisition and recruiting.

A former New England Patriots scout for six seasons, he was a member of the organization when the Patriots won Super Bowl LIII in 2018. In the last nine months, working with Rosenberg, he’s assisted Oklahoma and Florida in hiring general managers and preparing for the revenue-sharing era of college football.

As part of his role with The Athlete Group, Redd worked closely Brent Venables during the winter transfer portal cycle, helping with negotiations and contracts. Before his time with the Patriots, Redd was one of the younger Power Five directors of player personnel in the country at Wake Forest. He helped construct the 2017 and 2018 recruiting classes, which played a role in the Demon Deacons’ 2021 ACC championship game berth.

Nagy was hired as the program’s general manager in February. The Senior Bowl Executive Director and former NFL scout, Nagy and his staff are expected to help manage the salary cap for Oklahoma football. Schools will have $20.5 million to share in revenue in 2025-26, with football programs expected to be allocated 75% — roughly $15 million.

Along with Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione, the hire was made in conjunction with special advisor Randall Stephenson. Nagy and Redd will continue to build out the Oklahoma front office in the coming weeks along with addressing needs in the spring portal and the 2026 and 2027 recruiting classes.

The Sooners have posted two 6-7 seasons in Venables’ three-year tenure in Norman. Nagy brings 20-plus years of experience as an NFL scout and seven years as the executive director of the Senior Bowl.
