West Virginia in the transfer portal
West Virginia basketball is undergoing another coaching change this offseason. Josh Eilert served one year as head coach following the school parting ways with Bob Huggins last summer. However, the Mountaineers struggled last year, posting a record of 9-23 and resulting in Eilert no longer being the school’s coach.
Former Drake head coach Darian DeVries accepted the job after Eilert and is working on rebuilding the roster. The Mountaineers have seen seven players transfer out of the program this cycle, while six have come in with Small’s commitment. Among the incoming players is DeVries’ son, Tucker, who played for him at Drake.
“I’m super excited to join the West Virginia family,” Tucker said with his commitment. “To play for such a passionate fan base and to be a part of the great traditions at WVU will be a lot of fun! Can’t wait to get started!”
