Auburndale (Fla.) Lakeland four-star safety Keon Young announced Thursday morning that he has shut down his recruitment.

Young has been committed to Ole Miss since June 2. He was planning to take an official visit to NC State this weekend but canceled that trip, according to On3’s Chad Simmons.

“After prayer and talking with my family, I am shutting down my recruitment,” Young wrote. “I AM 100% COMMITTED TO OLE MISS #HOTTYTODDY

Back in June, Young chose the Rebels over Kentucky and South Florida.

“I committed because it’s in the SEC; I want to play against the best every day and on Saturdays,” he told On3. “I feel Coach Pete [Golding], Coach Brown and Coach Neighbors will put me in the best position to go to the NFL. I can see myself being around all these loving people and having fun for the next three to four years.”

Despite the later offer from Ole Miss, Young fels the Rebels’ coaching staff quickly made him a priority.

“The thing that put Ole Miss in the mix was they will always be a great program under Coach Kiffin, and I trust my DB coaches will put me in the best position and prepare me for the next level,” he added. “They’ve recruited me very hard over these few months, and it made me feel important to them.”

Young continued about his relationships with the coaching staff.

“I’m closer with Coach Brown and Coach Neighbors, and he’s randomly texting and checking on me like three or four times a week. We have great talks about how I’d play everywhere on the back end. On the OV, I got to see how things work around the program and where I’d be playing for the team.

Young is the nation’s No. 343 overall prospect in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 33 safety in the class and the No. 47 recruit from Florida.

On3 is the only major recruiting service to rank Young as a four-star prospect. He ranks No. 281 nationally and No. 24 among safeties in the 2025 On300.
