Ole Miss vs. Auburn odds: Early point spread released on Rebels, Tigers
Auburn and Ole Miss are set to face off in a Week 8 battle between two teams trending in opposite directions in the SEC West standings. The Rebels are coming off of back-to-back victories, while the Tigers have dropped three straight and are still in search of their first conference win.
Oddmakers in Vegas, however, don’t think it will come this week. Ole Miss opens as a 7-point home favorite according to FanDuel. The over/under is set at 55.5.
The Rebels opened SEC play with a 24-10 loss to Alabama in Week 4, but have since responded over the next two games to get back on track. Ole Miss went on to escape LSU in a 55-49 shootout in Week 5 on a touchdown from Jaxson Dart to Tre Harris that came with 39 seconds remaining. It followed that up with a 27-20 victory against Arkansas the following week.
Running back Quinshon Judkins finally looked healthy in the win against LSU after playing through injury in the first few weeks of the season. The reigning SEC Freshman of the Year finished that game with 177 yards rushing and a touchdown. He followed that up with 65 yards and a score in the win against the Razorbacks.
Ole Miss ranks as one of the most potent offenses in the SEC with an average of 41.7 points per game. Given how Auburn’s defense looked this past week, there should be little concern the Rebels can put up points on the Tigers.

Auburn is coming off of a 48-18 blowout loss to LSU this past week as things continue to look worse and worse for it early in conference play. Not only was the defense unable to stop Jayden Daniels and company, but the offense continued to look dismal, particularly through the air.
Auburn entered the game last in the SEC in passing yards per game (156.2) and ultimately ended up just under that mark with 154. Payton Thorne finished the game 12-of-23 passing for just 102 yards and no touchdowns as Robby Ashford also mixed in. That continued what has been an alarming trend for Auburn, which is averaging just 16 points per game through SEC play thus far.
Auburn has won six of the past seven contests against Ole Miss, but lost last year’s meeting 48-34. With the way both teams have looked early, it appears the Rebels have a good chance to make it two straight.
Kickoff between Ole Miss and Auburn is set for 6 p.m. CT on Saturday.
