4-star safety Chace Calicut takes Ole Miss official visit

Ole Miss has made its presence felt in the recruitment of Houston North Shore four-star safety Chace Calicut, one of the nation’s top defensive backs in the 2026 cycle.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder has four teams at the top of his process and is now set to take official visits as a decision looms. The Rebels are first up as Calicut is in Oxford for an OV this weekend:
While head coach Lane Kiffin and Co. are just now getting Calicut on campus, they are very much in the mix to land the Lone Star State standout, who’s also eyeing Texas, Washington and Michigan. Kiffin is leading the way for Ole Miss in its push for Calicut.
“Since they first recruited me, coach and them up there, they’ve just been real, hitting my phone up and wanting me to get down there, wanting me to feel like home,” Calicut told OM Spirit earlier this month.
A decision following official visits is likely for Calicut. After this weekend, Washington (May 30), Texas (June 13) and Michigan (June 20) will each host him for OVs. The in-state Longhorns continue to trend for the four-star, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
Calicut is the No. 127 overall prospect and No. 11 safety in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 20 player in Texas.

Austin (Texas) Westlake three-star quarterback Rees Wise committed on April 14 and is currently the No. 29 QB in the nation. His commitment came three days after Nettleton (Miss.) Tupelo three-star cornerback Braylen Williams did the same.
“I love the staff so much. I love the QB development there,” Wise told OM Spirit. “You have every opportunity there, everything to use, all the stuff.”
Sacramento Folsom four-star wide receiver Jameson Powell is the top-ranked commit in the class, checking in as the No. 399 recruit overall. He committed toward the end of January.
Niceville (Fla.) three-star athlete Zion Legree and Montgomery (Ala.) Pike Road three-star running back Ja’Michael Jones help round out the class. Jones is the No. 36 RB overall. Legree is the longest-tenured pledge in the mix, as he committed last November.
