Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin is no stranger to Twitter, as he’s one of the most active and followed college football coaches using the app. Kiffin couldn’t resist reacting to a video he saw on Twitter this weekend of his former colleague, none other than Alabama head coach Nick Saban.

Saban was asked about his quarterback situation heading into their next game versus Arkansas following a second quarter injury to starter Bryce Young, who didn’t return to Saturday’s matchup versus Arkansas, as backup quarterback Jalen Milroe led the Crimson Tide to a 49-26 victory over the Razorbacks. Saban’s sarcastic response to the question got a laugh out of Kiffin, who quoted the tweet with a crying laughing emoji.

Kiffin is probably familiar with Saban’s sense of humor, as he worked under him as the offensive coordinator for Alabama for three years from 2014-2016. The two won one national championship together before Kiffin moved on to head coach at Florida Atlantic for three seasons followed by his current stint with Ole Miss.

As a head coach, Kiffin is 46-21 since his exit from Alabama, and is leading his Ole Miss team to their first 5-0 start since 2014. Saban’s Alabama squad is also currently undefeated, and it will be interesting to see if both of them can maintain a blemish-free record for their next meeting, a matchup 5 games from now in Oxford.

Ole Miss started their SEC conference debut game of the season with a bang, as they upset No. 7 ranked Kentucky at home 22-19 this weekend. There’s a lot to celebrate right now in Oxford, as the Rebels are off to a 5-0 start and earned themself their first top 10 ranking of the season, ranked No. 9 in the AP Poll after their big win.

But for Ole Miss co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach Chris Partridge and his staff, a game-sealing sack fumble by edge Jared Ivey was enough to celebrate big at the moment, as the whole staff rejoiced in the team booth after the play. Partridge accidentally showed some skin during his celebration, which surfaced on Twitter, and head coach Lane Kiffin couldn’t help but poke fun of his assistant.

I’m sure the coaches all had a good laugh about the not-so-flattering camera angle and Kiffin’s joke, but what isn’t a laughing matter is the performance of Partridge’s defense on Saturday. The Rebels held Kentucky to less than 20 points, the fourth time they’ve done so to an opponent this season.

Ole Miss has also established one of the most dangerous rushing attacks in the country, averaging 261.8 yards per game on the ground, which ranks fifth in the country and number one in the SEC. The Rebels seem to have found the formula to win games this season, and if they can keep this up, there will be a lot more for Kiffin and Partridge to jump around and celebrate this season, but maybe with a tucked in shirt next time around for Partridge.
