Ole Miss transfer wide receiver Micah Davis signed with Southern Miss, On3’s Pete Nakos has learned. He spent one year with the Rebels after transferring from Utah State.

Davis appeared in every game in 2024 to finish with five catches for 57 yards. He also served as the team’s primary punt returner with 18 returns total on the year.

Micah Davis started his college career at Air Force in 2020 and spent two years with the Falcons before transferring to the JUCO level. Following a year at Iowa Western Community College, he headed to Utah State for a year and made his way to Ole Miss in 2024.

Davis appeared in four games as a true freshman as a running back, totaling just one carry for 13 yards while preserving a redshirt. He then appeared in eight games in 2021, running for 360 yards and four touchdowns. From there, he spent one year at the JUCO level and returned to FBS with Utah State in 2023, when he made the transition to wide receiver.

After his position switch, Davis hauled in 36 receptions for 628 yards and six touchdowns while also taking back punts. He led the nation with 28 punt returns, totaling 250 yards. He hit the transfer portal after that season and committed to Ole Miss, where he played a similar role.

Davis appeared in 13 games this year, taking 19 catches for 45 yards while adding 18 punt returns for 102 yards. He’ll now spend his final year of eligibility at Southern Miss and is able to do so thanks to a pivotal NCAA decision.

Davis is one of the many JUCO products given another year of eligibility in 2025 from the NCAA in a decision that stemmed from Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia’s lawsuit against the organization.

Judge William Campbell sided with Pavia, granting a preliminary injunction which paved the way for him to return to Vanderbilt in 2025. The timing of Campbell’s decision came more than a week after the transfer portal opened. Pavia cited the portal window in the suit, citing the need for time to negotiate NIL deals.
