4-star 2022 defensive back Davison Igbinosun decommits from Rutgers
Union (NJ) four-star 2022 defensive back Davison Igbinosun has reopened his recruitment, he announced on his Twitter account Tuesday morning.
Igbinosun, the No. 147 overall player in the 2022 On300, committed to Rutgers in July. He was the headliner of what’s currently the No. 19 recruiting class in the country and picked Rutgers over Ole Miss and nearly 20 other offers this summer. His brother, Desmond, is a freshman for the Scarlet Knights and made his collegiate debut last week vs. Ohio State.
In his announcement, Igbinosun wrote: “First and foremost I would like to Thank God for putting me in this position. I want to thank Coach Schiano and Coach Fran for being one of the first few coaches to believe in my athletic abilities enough to offer me a scholarship. After talking it over with my loved ones, at this point in time it’s best for me and my family to re-open my recruitment and decommit from Rutgers University. I’m still considering Rutgers but I am also interested in evaluating other schools. Respect My Decision.”

In his three seasons at Union, Davison Igbinosun has racked up an impressive 178 total tackles from his defensive back spot. He’s also added six interceptions and 18 passes defended.
He has remained in contact with Ole Miss and is likely to draw even more interest as one of the top remaining defensive backs still on the board. His decommitment leaves Rutgers with one prospect in the On300: Springfield (Ill.) High athlete Rashad Rochelle (No. 297).
