On3 2025 No. 1 prospect Cooper Flagg reclassifying to Class of 2024

Montverde (Fla.) Academy five-star forward Cooper Flagg is considered one of the best high school basketball players in the country, regardless of classification.

The 6-foot-8 Flagg is the No. 1 overall player in On3’s 2025 basketball rankings, but announced that he will reclassify into the Class of 2024, making him the country’s top uncommitted recruit in that class. Flagg will remain On3’s No. 1 ranked player in the 2024 class.

Among his offers thus far are Providence, Duke, Kansas, UCLA, UConn, Villanova and more. He has visited one program — Duke.

At the Nike EYBL Peach Jam in July, he finished in the 16U division’s top-five in points (25.4), rebounds (10.9), assists (5.7), and blocks (6.9). He previously won the MVP of the NBPA Top 100 Camp in Orlando. 

Production is evident

Flagg started every game this season for a 23-3 Montverde (Fla.) Academy program that was one of the top teams in the country. On a team with 11 players carrying high major offers, Flagg finished top three in points, rebounds, and assists for the season while leading the way in steals (1.6) and blocks (2.2) per game. 

Last summer, Flagg won a gold medal with the u17 USA Basketball team in the FIBA World Cup. In that setting, Flagg, one of the three youngest players on the team, was sixth on the team in minutes played per game, yet he led the team in rebounds (10.0), steals (2.4), and blocks (2.9).

This summer, playing for the Maine United program on Nike’s EYBL 16u Circuit, Flagg is averaging 26.9 points, 11.9 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 4.5 blocks per game. He is leading the 16u circuit in blocks while finishing the regular season second in scoring and rebounds. He is shooting 55.3 percent from the field.

“Cooper Flagg is a lengthy forward prospect with a straight-line burst and a high basketball IQ. His instincts on the defensive end stand out immediately. He understands angles and rotations and has excellent anticipation both in passing lanes and as a weak-side shot-blocker. Flagg is a good spot shooter with a consistently high release point. The shot can be a bit slow at times which can call for some inconsistencies off the bounce. He is a smart off-ball cutter and can handle the ball well in open space. His hips can be a bit stiff and I would like to see him tighten the handle some. High-level prospect, tracking among the top nationally, in his class.
