Each week, On3 selects coordinators of the week from each Group of Five conference.

Our choices for Week 8: 

AAC — Marques Tuiasosopo, Rice OC

Rice’s offense racked up 512 yards and six touchdowns in a 42-10 win over Tulsa. Quarterback JT Daniels threw for 342 yards with two touchdown passes.

AAC — Jess Loepp, UTSA DC

UTSA held FAU without any offensive touchdowns in a 36-10 win over the Owls, who were coming off a 56-14 win over USF. FAU’s only touchdown came on a defensive score. UTSA held the Owls to 162 yards, posted two takeaways and also produced a safety.

Conference USA — Zac Alley, Jacksonville State DC

Jacksonville State limited Western Kentucky’s high-powered offense to 17 points during a 20-17 win over the Hilltoppers, who had scored at least 24 points in each of their first five games against opponents that weren’t Ohio State.

MAC — Vince Kehres, Toledo DC

Toledo’s defense held Miami (Ohio) without a score on any of its final four drives as the Rockets secured a 21-17 road win over the previously 6-1 RedHawks. Toledo held Miami (Ohio) to 299 yards.

Mountain West — Bryant Vincent, New Mexico OC

New Mexico posted six touchdowns in a 42-21 win over Hawaii. It was a season-high point total against an FBS opponent for the Lobos, who were 5 of 9 on third and fourth downs and didn’t have any turnovers. New Mexico State threw for 202 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for 227 yards and three scores.

Sun Belt — Bryant Haines, James Madison DC

James Madison held Marshall without any offensive points during a 20-9 win over the Thundering Herd. Marshall’s only points came on a safety and a kick return for a touchdown. JMU limited the Thundering Herd to 169 yards, had two takeaways and produced two additional fourth-down stops.
