Four weeks have now come and gone in the college football season, plenty enough time for leaders to emerge in the Heisman Trophy race. But there’s still plenty of time for others to enter the mix, too.

On3 stops to poll its top national analysts for their take. Voting in this poll are Andy Staples, Ari Wasserman, Chris Low, Brett McMurphy, Pete Nakos, JD PicKell and Charles Power.

Each of the national experts submitted a ballot with his top 10 players on it, and we’ve compiled the results to create a complete ranking using points — 10 points for a first-place vote, nine for second, etc. Let’s get into how the rankings unfolded below.

1. QB John Mateer, Oklahoma – 67 points

WEEKEND STATS: 24-of-36 for 271 yards, 1 TD | 10 carries for 29 yards, 1 TD
Mateer has been atop the Heisman Trophy poll for the last few weeks, and for good reason. He’s been absolutely unstoppable and is the clear No. 1 reason Oklahoma has emerged as a potential playoff team.

The Washington State transfer just gets the job done, whether it requires his arm or his legs. He has scored a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown in every single game this season so far, a model of consistency.

2. QB Tommy Castellanos, Florida State – 50

WEEKEND STATS: 10-of-13 for 205 yards, 1 INT | 7 carries for 54 yards, 2 TD
Castellanos continues to be fairly limited in terms of what he’s been asked to do in the passing game. He’s averaging just 12.7 passing attempts per game through the first three contests.

Against Kent State he didn’t throw a touchdown pass and threw one interception. But he ran for two touchdowns and continues to spark the offense. His rating near the top of this poll is indicative of the kind of impact he has on the team as a whole.

3. QB Marcel Reed, Texas A&M – 43

WEEKEND STATS: Bye week
Following a major upset of Notre Dame, Texas A&M was on a bye week this week, giving Reed a chance to rest and regather himself. He’s been quite good through the first three games of the season.

So far, Reed has accounted for 869 passing yards and nine touchdowns, against just one interception. He has also run for 142 yards and a score, providing a dual threat, something many Heisman Trophy contenders have hung their hats on over the years.

4. QB Diego Pavia, Vanderbilt – 40

WEEKEND STATS: 18-of-24 for 245 yards, 1 TD | 9 carries for 86 yards, 1 TD
Pavia continues to pave the way for the Vanderbilt squad, which has gotten out to an impressive 4-0 start to the season with a pair of Power Four wins. Saturday was a romp over Georgia State, in which Vanderbilt put up 70 total points.

Pavia has thrown for a touchdown in every single game this season. Meanwhile, he racked up his first rushing touchdown of the year, though he has already compiled 215 yards on the ground.

5. QB Carson Beck, Miami – 31

WEEKEND STATS: 17-of-30 for 160 yards, 1 INT
It was the worst outing for the season for Beck, albeit against a very good Florida defense. He failed to find the end zone and was picked off once, at a crucial juncture in the game.

Still, it’s undeniable the impact Beck has had on Miami as a whole. He’s a big reason the team is sitting at 4-0 and ranked in the top 10 nationally. That’s enough to have him way up in the Heisman Trophy poll standings.

6. DL Rueben Bain, Miami – 29

WEEKEND STATS: 7 tackles, 1.0 tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks
Bain continues to be at his best in the big games, and that was no different against Florida. In fact, he could have easily had a few more sacks in the final quarter of the game as the Gators pressed to pull even.

The talented defensive lineman turned in a season-high seven tackles against Florida, while bringing his sack tally on the season up to two. He needs a monster game or two, but he’s had the overall impact to justify being in the Heisman Trophy conversation.

7. QB Dante Moore, Oregon – 22

WEEKEND STATS: 21-of-31 for 305 yards, 4 TD | 7 carries for 53 yards
Moore had his best statistical outing of the season, breaking 300 yards passing in a huge win over rival Oregon State. He also threw for a season-high four touchdowns.

Given that Oregon figures to be in the thick of the playoff conversation throughout the year, Moore will be on a stage that can earn him Heisman Trophy recognition. Can he keep coming through? Next up is a huge showdown with Penn State.

8. QB Fernando Mendoza, Indiana – 17

WEEKEND STATS: 21-of-23 for 267 yards, 5 TD
There’s almost no question at this point that Mendoza has put up the best stats of the Heisman Trophy contenders on this list. And that’s true despite the fact that he didn’t throw a touchdown pass in the season opener.

Mendoza has thrown for five touchdowns in each of the last two outings. On the year he’s up to 975 yards passing for 14 touchdowns without an interception. He’s also run for two scores. Those are elite numbers, and if he can keep Indiana in playoff contention there’s little reason to think he can’t make it to New York.

9. QB Jayden Maiava, USC – 16

WEEKEND STATS: 20-of-26 for 234 yards, 3 TD | 4 carries for 31 yards, 2 TD
Maiava has been elite so far through the 2025 season, providing an excellent balance for the USC offense with his ability to take off at the perfect time. He’s only run for 24 yards this season, but he’s accounted for four scores on the ground.

Meanwhile, Maiava threw for multiple touchdowns for the third time in four games this weekend. He has thrown for 989 yards and six touchdowns, without an interception. He certainly appears next in line on a long list of excellent quarterbacks Lincoln Riley has coached.

T-10. QB Joey Aguilar, Tennessee – 12

WEEKEND STATS: 15-of-22 for 218 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT
For the second straight week, Aguilar threw an interception. But for the second straight week Tennessee piled up more than 40 points and had plenty enough offense to win.

Aguilar has been excellent for the Volunteers so far, stabilizing the position after the offseason departure of Nico Iamaleava. Few Tennessee fans would trade Aguilar for Iamaleava at this point, which says a lot about how good the Appalachian State transfer has been.

T-10. QB Trinidad Chambliss, Ole Miss – 12

WEEKEND STATS: 17-of-27 for 307 yards, 2 TD | 14 carries for 112 yards
Chambliss has been an absolute revelation since taking over for the injured Austin Simmons, a case of the transfer portal working out brilliantly for the Rebels. He has added a dual-threat element to the offense that is impossible to deny.

Over the last two weeks, Chambliss has rushed for 174 yards and two scores, making a significant dent on the ground. He has also thrown for 660 yards and three scores, keeping the Ole Miss offense from missing a beat with Simmons out.
