Few prospects have shot up recruiting boards across the country faster than Birmingham (Ala.) Briarwood Christian quarterback Christopher Vizzina. In a junior class headlined by a handful of elite QB prospects, Vizzina has pushed his way into the conversation as one of the country’s best.

Georgia, Clemson, and Ohio State have extended offers in recent months, and that’s on top of major pursuit from Auburn, Ole Miss, Notre Dame and others. Vizzina is expected to be back at Auburn this weekend, and is fresh off a visit to Ohio State, where he received an offer.

But as of now, things are trending in the right direction for Clemson and Dabo Swinney. Vizzina earned an offer in November, which is about the time Clemson appeared to fall out of favor with Five-Star Plus+ QB Arch Manning. The Tigers have been all-in on him since.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), Clemson holds a 40.2 percent chance of securing his commitment. Georgia (21.1 percent), Ole Miss (10.3%) and Ohio State (10.3%) trail behind a bit.

Vizzina doesn’t currently have a timetable for his commitment. And he has a few more likely visits this spring before he cuts his list down or pulls the trigger on a school.

The 6-foot-3, 194-pounder is the No. 40 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 5 quarterback and No. 7 junior prospect in Alabama.

Christopher Vizzina Scouting Summary

“Quarterback with translatable tools and the best feet among top signal callers in the 2023 cycle. Has ideal size at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds. Consistently shows twitchy, explosive movements in his lower body. Plays with outstanding feet and has some of, if not the best pocket movement and awareness of top quarterbacks in the 2023 cycle. A loose, athletic mover. Comfortable stepping up into the pocket or moving outside to escape pressure. Shows a strong arm in game and camp settings. Primarily delivers from the same arm slot on most passes.

Was among the more efficient passers among top 2023 quarterbacks as a junior, though he did not have quite the number of attempts as many others. Has the burst and top-end play speed to present a considerable run threat, rushing for 15 touchdowns as a junior. Shows the speed to pull away against one of the faster high school teams in the Southeast. Plays against some of the stronger competition among top quarterbacks nationally. Still relatively new to the position after starting to play quarterback as an 8th grader. Also significantly younger than many other top quarterbacks with an April birthday.” — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings
