On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine: Georgia takes big lead for Sydir Mitchell

Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic four-star defensive lineman Sydir Mitchell is one of the top players from the Northeast in the 2023 recruiting class.

But it looks like he will be heading down south for his college career.

Georgia has emerged as the heavy favorite for Mitchell in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, currently sporting a 95.7% chance of securing his commitment.

He took an official visit to Athens, Ga., this past weekend.

“I saw a lot of Georgia on my first visit, but I spent a lot of time with coach Scott and coach Smart this visit,” Mitchell told On3. “I liked it all, but the best part of the visit was getting to know the coaches more. My time with them showed me more about them and their personalities. It was great to really get to know them and see who they are away from practice and stuff like that.”

Auburn is the only other school above 1% — at 1.1%.

RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college. 

It factors in machine learning, expert predictions, social sentiment, visits, and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

The On3 Consensus — a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies — has Mitchell as the No. 299 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle.

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $11.4k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Mitchell would be joining a Bulldogs recruiting class that ranks fourth in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking. There are two defensive lineman commits already in the class in Valdosta (Ga.) four-star prospect Gabriel Harris and Powder Springs (Ga.) McEachern three-star prospect Seven Cloud.
