On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine update for 5-star OL Francis Mauigoa

Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy five-star interior offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa hopes to release a top 10 list sometime soon, but the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives only four teams a serious chance to land the elite recruit.

USC has the highest chance to do so with a 53.5% chance to land Mauigoa, by the far the largest percentage among the four teams. Miami is second with a 17.6% chance followed by Alabama at 15.9% and Oregon at 12.3%.

RPM was released to the public in December 2021. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college. 

It factors in machine learning, expert predictions, social sentiment, visits, and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

Mauigoa is the No. 8 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

The only offensive lineman ranked ahead of Mauigoa is Des Moines (Iowa) Southeast Polk five-star offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor.

“On an absolutely loaded IMG Academy team, the 6-foot-6, 320-pounder with an 80-inch wingspan may have the highest upside,” On3’s Gerry Hamilton said during the fall. “Now settling in at right tackle for IMG Academy, Francis Mauigoa is displaying a very high ceiling as a RT or IOL at the next level.”

Mauigoa currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $13.1k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

On3’s Chad Simmons was at IMG Academy last week for the team’s Pro Day and included information about what to expect from Mauigoa’s recruitment going forward.

“By the end of February, elite offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa plans to cut his list to 10 schools,” Simmons said. “Is there really 10 schools that have a legit shot? Likely not.”
