Hours after his bombshell decommitment from Texas A&M, a new team is trending with Five-Star Plus+ linebacker Harold Perkins.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, LSU has a 38.3% chance of landing the 6-foot-2, 210-pound linebacker out of Cypress (Texas) Cy Park.

Texas A&M, the school Perkins committed to the Under Armour All-America Game, is still listed by the RPM as the favorite with a 55.4% chance. Florida is listed with a 4.8% chance. But the move by LSU in the RPM is noticeable. That’s especially true since Perkins is expected to take an official visit this weekend to Baton Rouge.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine was released to the public in early December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.

It factors in machine learning, expert predictions, social sentiment, visits, and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

Harold Perkins is the No. 3 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is the top linebacker in the 2022 cycle.

Harold Perkins currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $92,000. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time. Perkins ranks No. 12 in the High School Football NIL Rankings.

Prior to his decommitment, Harold Perkins was a key part of Texas A&M’s No. 1 recruiting class in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings. The Aggies had three of the top four recruits in the country in Perkins, Powell (Tenn.) High defensive lineman Walter Nolen and Frisco (Texas) Liberty wide receiver Evan Stewart.

But Perkins took an official visit to Gainesville this past weekend, and the Gators are also in contention. His visit to Gainesville, Fla., went well. He told On3’s Gators Online that the coaching staff gave him something to think about.

“It was fun,” Perkins said after his official visit. “It was exciting. Feels like the new staff is bringing new things in and I like it. I like how they’re spending more money on the players and investing in the players.”

But now with LSU trending in the RPM, all eyes will be on Baton Rouge. His scheduled visit this weekend could go a long way toward figuring out who he signs with.
