One of the nation’s best running backs has locked in his commitment date.

Kewan Lacy, the No. 6-ranked RB in the On300 for 2024, tells On3 that he will announce his college decision on Thursday, Dec. 14 at 6:30 p.m. ET.

Alabama, Ole Miss and Missouri are the three teams that the four-star Texas-based running back will choose from.

“I’m starting to get closer and closer,” Lacy, the No. 85 player in the country, told On3 last week. “I’m feeling more comfortable with the programs, my top schools, and I feel comfortable being there in the systems. Whatever school I pick, I know I’m gonna make a good choice.”

Lacy reopened his recruitment in October after pledging to Nebraska in the summer.

Ole Miss was among the Lancaster (Texas) High School four-star recruit’s finalists before pledging to the Huskers.

Ole Miss has remained in pursuit of the top-100 prospect from Lancaster (Texas) High School. Lane KiffinKevin Smith and Kelvin Bolden were all on hand at Rockwall’s Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium on Friday night to catch Lacy’s final high school game. The Rebels have moved ahead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine in the week-and-change ever since.

Lacy has hosted Missouri’s Eli Drinkwitz  (last Monday) and Alabama’s Nick Saban  (last Wednesday) for in-home visits as well.

In-person evaluation of Kewan Lacy

Spiegelman has seen Lacy in-person this fall and has come away impressed by skill-set and potential. He would be one of Ole Miss’ centerpiece pledges in the 2024 cycle if he were to pick the Rebels.

“Lacy’s season came an end in the second quarter with an ankle injury, but not before the 2024 RB made his mark as the centerpiece of the Lancaster (Texas) offense. As a runner, as a slot receiver, and as a pass-catcher out of the backfield, Lacy was dynamic with the ball in his hands,” Spiegelman wrote. “He’s got a suddenness to his running style, and is equally as impactful in and out of his cuts and running through contact. Lacy is an extremely gifted pass-catcher and also thrashing in between the tackles.”

Lacy is the No. 256 overall prospect and No. 18 RB in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

On3 ranks Lacy higher than other recruiting services, as he checks in as the No. 85 recruit and No. 6 RB in the latest On300.
