On300 DL Terrance Green commits to Oregon
Terrance Green has been sitting on a big decision for several weeks, which is fitting for the 6-foot-6, 275-pounder from the Lone Star State, who was uniquely getting courted to play tackle by coaches from both sides of the ball.
On Monday, one of the nation’s most athletic linemen in the 2023 cycle followed his mind and his heart to Oregon, where first-year Ducks head coach Dan Lanning’s defensive background and experience with a collection of recent first-rounders along the defensive line at Georgia was eye-catching for Green, who grew up in Houston watching Oregon to hype him up before his own games.
The Ducks beat out Michigan State for Green, who was also considering the in-state Longhorns, Miami and Florida.
“Coach Lanning, Coach Tony (Tuioti) and Coach (Tosh) Lupoi have been in constant contact with me,” Green told On3. “They came out to see me during the spring and I’ve been to Eugene twice. The relationship they have with me is great and they’ve explained how they see me playing and they think I can do big things in their scheme, and I believe that, too. The facilities are great and I can be developed there, but it’s the people, too, and that’s what makes that place so great.
“Coach Lanning is a big family guy and he cares about his players,” he continued. “He wants to win the right way, and coming to Oregon it’s different scenery and a different lifestyle, and he’s done a great job of uniting his guys. He has every type of player — white, black, Samoan, all types of guys — and he’s a real genuine guy and you can sense is it him.”

Lanning has played a huge role, and his staff has been integral as well. Lupoi and Tuioto both boast NFL experience, which was a major factor for the On300 lineman as he navigated through his final group of schools. Ultimately, it boiled down to two staffs with defensive-minded coaches with deep NFL experience and Green followed his gut.
“For me it was a tough decision, but talking to my family and praying and asking for guidance made it easier,” Green said. “You learn to really love the relationship you build with the coaches and with the people you meet. At Oregon, there’s a lot of great people.”
“Coach Tony is big on family and he’s constantly in communication,” he added. “Coach Lapoi is crazxy and funny, but when it’s game time and it’s serious he’s coaching you and that’s what you need. My plan is to get drafted in three or four years, and those guys are like family to me. They believe in faith, family and football.”
Green is the nation’s No. 272 overall player according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. On3 rates him higher — at No. 198 overall — and as the No. 27 defensive lineman in the nation.
