On300 RB Daniel Hill sets his commitment date and names finalists
One of the nation’s best running backs has navigated through his recruitment including a rigorous June of official visits, and now he is ready to reveal his college decision.
Daniel Hill, the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 16-rated back in the country out of Meridian (Miss.) High School, is set to reveal his college commitment Wednesday, August 23 — ahead of his senior season. The On300 bruiser from Mississippi will choose from five finalists, including USC, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi State and South Carolina.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Hill took summer official visits to Auburn (June 9-11), Alabama (June 16-18) and wrapped up the month with a visit back to South Carolina (June 23-25). The Gamecocks have a slight edge on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine over the Crimson Tide, one of the longtime favorites in Hill’s recruitment.
Alabama, which has hosted the four-star running back more than a half-dozen times dating back to last year, is high on the Crimson Tide as well as RB coach Robert Gillespie after last month’s trip back to Tuscaloosa.
“We’ve had a good relationship for a while,” Hill said of Gillespie. “He’s been telling me how he can develop me and how Alabama can get me to where I want to be. The track record of running backs at Alabama is very good. It would be hard to say no to Alabama.”

South Carolina got Hill back on campus at the tail end of June. The Gamecocks have been trending in the right direction with the talented out-of-state running back since getting him on campus for the spring game back in April.
“The interactions with the people and all of the coaches were the highlight,” he told On3. “They just made me feel really comfortable and they made me feel like family.”
“I love it, I love the atmosphere over there,” Hill said, including the push from RB coach Montario Hardesty. “South Carolina is pushing for me the most and we talk every day. Coach Hardesty is always checking in on me and I really like South Carolina right now. They’re probably at the top.”
Hill checks in as the No. 197 overall player in the country, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is tabbed as the No. 6 overall recruit from Mississippi in this 2024 recruiting cycle and the No. 16 running back in the nation.
