On300 wide receiver Brenen Thompson Commits to Texas

Four-star wide receiver Brenen Thompson of Spearman (Texas) High School committed to the Texas Longhorns on Wednesday.
The 5-foot-10 165 pounder chose the Longhorns over Texas A&M and Oklahoma State.
Texas Checked Every Box for Thompson
“The opportunities that Texas provides to me and my family are unmatched,” Thompson said. “We loved the environment in June and on game day when we went for my official. I love the coaching staff and they treat me like family.”
Thompson, who is one of the fastest players in the nation, will also run track for the Longhorns, and that was a key factor in his recruitment as well.
“Those were the things that I knew were important to me and my decision,” Thompson said. “They (Texas) hit every single one.”

On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power says Brenton Thompson is an intriguing prospect.
“He is one of the more dynamic receivers in a deep group at the position in the 2022 class,” Power said. “He’s one of the fastest players in the country, if not the fastest. Thompson is a do-it-all high school player in a remote area of the Texas panhandle.
“While he doesn’t see the strongest competition on Friday nights, the movement skills and playmaking ability project well to the next level. Thompson isn’t just a straight-line athlete. He has excellent feet and change of direction skills. Last season, we saw him make a bunch of impressive extended grabs away from his body. His speed and playmaking ability make him one of the more dangerous targets in high school football.”
Thompson, who is the No. 40 player in the On300 2022 rankings, joins Maalik Murphy, Jamarion Miller, Justice Finkley, and others in Texas’ #1 ranked class in the Big-12.
