Notre Dame is carving out a huge slice of Texas talent in this 2023 cycle and that collection got even deeper and richer on Friday.

Three-time state champion wide receiver Jaden Greathouse committed to the Irish. The On3 Consensus’ No. 21 receiver in the nation, Greathouse picked Notre Dame over the likes of Oklahoma, South Carolina and Texas, and realized as much after multiple trips up to South Bend this offseason, including an official visit that instilled some conviction to Greathouse’s decision.

“The official visit definitely helped out a lot just really dive into what each program is about and how things are really going to be, and it definitely gave me a clear vision,” Greathouse told On3. “I had a lot of fun and I could definitely see myself (at Notre Dame).”

“It was a great visit,” he expounded. “I had a lot of fun, you know, me and Peyton (Bowen) and then Braylon (James) are all good friends, so that definitely plays a part into it for sure. I have a great relationship with the coaching staff and the degree is second to none and opportunities that from Notre Dame much was too much to not consider. It t was definitely a big part in my decision. Football is not going to last forever; you got to think about other things toward the end and they definitely provide a lot of opportunity for that.”

The On300 wide receiver from Austin (Texas) Westlake turned 66 receptions into 1,274 yards and 20 touchdowns as a junior, including Offensive MVP honors in the Chaps’ most recent state title run. Greathouse, who has been a rare impact player at Westlake since his freshman year, also helped the basketball team advance to the state semifinals.

“I’ve been I’ve been thinking about it for a while,” Greathouse said. “I definitely wanted to commit before the season and I feel comfortable with my choice after a lot of thinking. I feel comfortable with my choice. I’m ready for the next step.”

Greathouse is the No. 121 overall player in the country on the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
