Four-star wide receiver Matthew Golden of Houston, TX has decommitted from TCU.

“First, I would like to give a huge thanks to the entire TCU coaching staff for giving me an opportunity to be a part of the frog family,” Golden said. “But after careful thoughts and consideration with my family, I have decided to re-open my recruitment.”

The 6-foot-1, 190 pound receiver announced his commitment to the Horned Frogs back in June. However, with TCU head coach Gary Patterson resigning yesterday, Golden decided this was best.

“Having the relationship that I had with Coach (Gary) Patterson played a big role in my commitment,” Golden said. “Seeing the head coach resign caught me off guard because I would have never thought it would be him. With that being said, me and my family felt that it was best for me to take a step back and re-open my recruitment.”

Matthew Golden ranks as the No. 71 player in the On300 2022 rankings.
