Tennessee CB commit Onis Konanbanny on Florida visit alongside new Gators pledge
Billy Napier and the Florida Gators have all the momentum after stunning No. 9 Ole Miss in Gainesville on Saturday afternoon.
Now bowl eligible, UF will look to stay hot on the recruiting trail and continue to add to its 2025 class ahead of National Signing Day. Multiple targets are in The Swamp, including Columbia (S.C.) Heathwood Hall Episcopal four-star cornerback Onis Konanbanny.
The 6-foot-0.5, 175-pound Tennessee commit was in the locker room after the big win alongside new Gators four-star quarterback pledge Tramell Jones:
Konanbanny committed to Tennessee on Aug. 23, choosing the Vols over Florida State — the school that formerly held Jones’ pledge for over a year. Both Konanbanny and Jones have played 7-on-7 for South Florida Express, too. There are connections between the blue-chip QB and the coveted corner.
“They really wanted me,” Konanbanny told On3 upon committing to Tennessee. “They don’t just want me as a player. They like me as a person. Tennessee likes everything about me.”
“My overall feeling at Tennessee was different than it was other places. The people and the way they treated me were different,” he added.
Konanbanny is the No. 425 overall prospect and No. 42 CB in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s one of six defensive backs pledged to the Vols this cycle, too.

Gators are after a slew of flips down the stretch
Florida has managed to get just about every flip target in the South on campus across the last two weekends. Wins over LSU and now Ole Miss have helped Napier and his staff garner a serious buzz on the recruiting trail.
Along with Jones, three-star interior offensive lineman Daniel Pierre-Louis also flipped from FSU last week. Three-star defensive lineman Stephon Shivers, a former Georgia pledge, also committed this month. UF now has 15 commits and the No. 26 class in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
Oregon five-star wide receiver commit Dallas Wilson, FSU five-star IOL commit Solomon Thomas, Texas four-star WR commit Jaime Ffrench and Ohio State Five-Star Plus+ cornerback commit Na’eem Offord are some of the biggest flip targets on the board for the Gators ahead of NSD.
Konanbanny was surrounded by UF commits and other top prospects on Saturday afternoon. Arizona WR commit Muizz Tounkara is in for his official visit, while FSU four-star running back Byron Louis is also giving the SEC school another look late in the process.
