Oregon landed a surprise pledge from Los Angeles Sierra Canyon five-star EDGE Richard Wesley earlier this month. While his name is off the board, Wesley is still planning to take visits this summer.

The 6-foot-4, 250-pounder told On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Monday evening that he’ll return to Oregon for an OV on the weekend of June 6. He’ll also take an official to Texas (June 20), Ohio State (Aug. 30) and Texas A&M (TBD).

Wesley is the No. 25 overall prospect and No. 4 EDGE in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 5 player in California.

The five-star committed to Dan Lanning and the Ducks on May 10, giving the Big Ten program its latest major win on the recruiting trail. He told On3 that no team was recruiting him like Oregon not long before he pulled the trigger on his commitment.

“They preach Dan Lanning and his background and the same with Tosh Lupoi. They let me know the Oregon track record and I have seen that,” Wesley told Chad Simmons.

“Since the jump, Oregon has been showing me love. I talk to coaches almost every day, they text me all the time and they were begging me for the prom pictures Saturday night. I love the feeling there and I love everything there.”

He’s one of two five-stars in Oregon’s 2026 class, alongside tight end Kendre Harrison. The Ducks’ class features eight commits in total and ranks No. 7 nationally in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Wesley has previously visited each of the other three programs that will welcome him back to campus in the coming months. The Ducks will have to fight off high-profile programs to keep the Golden State star in the mix.

Scout’s Take on Richard Wesley

On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power previously wrote this of Wesley as a prospect:

“Richard Wesley is a huge get for Oregon and Dan Lanning. The top pass rusher on the West Coast this cycle. Was the No. 1 edge prospect in the 2027 cycle before reclassifying. He reclassified into a really, really strong EDGE group nationally in 2026. Richard Wesley, I think for starters he is really well built. For a 16-year old, very advanced physically. Muscled up, filled out build. He has been a really good player at Sierra Canyon to this point. Had a very productive season last fall: 16 tackles for loss, nine sacks and I think considering that was really technically his sophomore season, second varsity season, I think that’s encouraging and looking for him to take step this year.”
