Oregon now trending to flip Baylor 4-star LB commit Kaleb Burns
The recruitment of Houston Cy Falls four-star linebacker Kaleb Burns has continued to take off this fall. The 6-foot-1, 230-pounder has been committed to Baylor since July 30, but other programs have since been in pursuit.
Oklahoma was at one point trending to flip him away from the Bears, but that was before Burns logged his official visit to Oregon over the weekend. The On300 blue-chipper was at Autzen Stadium on Saturday night as the Ducks picked up a monumental victory over Ohio State.
Burns labeled the visit “out of this world” when speaking with On3’s Steve Wiltfong. On Monday, Wiltfong and Oregon insider Max Torres each logged picks in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine in favor of the Ducks flipping Burns’ pledge.
“I’ll say what makes them a fit for me is the way Coach Lanning and Coach B Mike (Brian Michalowski) coaches the linebackers. I see myself making a impact here in Eugene,” Burns said.
“I love what they’re doing up there,” he added.
Burns is the No. 309 overall prospect and No. 31 LB in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 45 player in Texas.
On3 ranks Burns much higher than other recruiting services, however. He ranks No. 147 overall, No. 16 at the LB position and No. 25 in the Lone Star State, per the 2025 On300.

Ducks charging for another top-five class
Oregon is looking to ride some major momentum on the recruiting trail following the win over the Buckeyes. Dan Lanning and his staff already have the nation’s No. 7 recruiting class in the 2025 cycle and have already added four-star defensive lineman Tomuhini Tupoi and three-star DL Viliami Moala to the 2026 class since the victory.
Burns was one of the many top targets in Eugene that left feeling great about Oregon. Multiple five-stars were also in attendance, some uncommitted and some committed elsewhere. The Ducks’ class already features a trio of five-stars in wide receiver Dakorien Moore, WR Dallas Wilson and safety Trey McNutt.
The class currently includes just one linebacker in four-star Nasir Wyatt, a top-200 recruit and top-20 player at the position. In total, the class features 16 commits, 11 of whom check in inside the top 200 of the On3 Industry Ranking.
Burns is currently one of four blue-chippers in Baylor’s 2025 class, which ranks No. 34 in the nation, per the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
