5-star QB Ryder Lyons back at Oregon for spring visit

Folsom (Calif.) five-star quarterback Ryder Lyons is staying busy on the road this spring, getting looks at elite programs that are vying to land his commitment. After visiting Ohio State and Michigan last week, he’s back on the West Coast.
Lyons posted on his Instagram story on Monday evening that he’s now back in Eugene. Oregon has been pushing hard in his recruitment and is thoroughly in the running as he continues to work through his process.
The Ducks had plenty of QB recruiting fireworks last cycle and head coach Dan Lanning is no stranger to making a major splash on the trail. When speaking with On3’s Steve Wiltfong last month, Lyons tabbed Oregon, USC and BYU as his top three schools.
No school has recruited Lyons as hard as Oregon, though.
“Coach (Will) Stein, coach (Dan) Lanning, how they’re doing as a program, they’re just building and building. Me and coach Stein have a great relationship, probably the best out of any other coaches,” Lyons said in March. “They’ve been recruiting me the hardest probably, the whole time … how they’re recruiting, a lot of people like to say it’s all Phil Knight money, but they don’t really understand how good they recruit … their culture is probably one of the best I’ve seen. How they play as a team, how they interact with each other.”
USC continues to trend in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, though there’s still a ways to go in Lyons’ recruitment. Oregon, BYU, Michigan, Ohio State and Ole Miss all continue to battle.
Lyons, who will take an LDS mission following high school and enroll in the spring of 2027, ranks as the nation’s No. 10 overall prospect and No. 4 QB in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the top-ranked player in California.

Oregon in the mix for No. 1 class in 2026 cycle
The Ducks currently have eight commits in their 2026 class that currently ranks No. 4 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
Reidsville (N.C.) five-star tight end commit Kendre Harrison headlines as the No. 16 recruit and top-ranked TE. Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star offensive tackle Kodi Greene is the No. 9 prospect in the On300 and the No. 23 recruit in the On3 Industry Ranking.
Texarkana Texas High four-star running back Tradarian Ball ranks No. 60 overall and is still the No. 5 RB in the cycle. Scottsdale (Ariz.) Willamette four-star defensive lineman Tony Cumberland is a top-100 recruit and the No. 6 DL in the cycle. He’s been in the class since September of 2023. Ventura (Calif.) four-star linebacker Tristan Phillips and Melbourne (Fla.) Eau Gallie four-star safety Xavier Lherisse are the other blue-chippers committed. Eugene (Ore.) Willamette three-star DL Viliami Moala and Riverside (Calif.) St. John Bosco three-star EDGE Dutch Horisk round out the class.
The Ducks are also in the mix for Nashville Christian five-star quarterback Jared Curtis, the top-ranked signal-caller in the nation, among others. Only LSU, USC and Ohio State currently check in ahead of Oregon in the recruiting rankings heading into April.
