WATCH: Oregon quarterback Bo Nix connects with Troy Franklin on 67-yard touchdown strike against Washington
Saturday night’s Pac-12 rivalry showdown between the Oregon Ducks and Washington Huskies has quickly turned into one of the best games of the college football season in the second half. Both teams have traded blows on the offensive side of the football, with big plays coming from Washington quarterback Michael Penix, Jr. and Oregon quarterback Bo Nix. Nix threw his second touchdown strike of the second half in the third quarter–this time a 67-yard bomb to a wide open Troy Franklin to put the Ducks back up 31-27.
Check it out.
The Washington defense did an excellent job of keeping the Oregon offense in check and out of rhythm in the first half, but the Ducks definitely found their footing in the second half. The same goes for the Huskies’ offensive attack.
Bo Nix put up excellent numbers yet again, even after having a slow start in the first half
While the Ducks lost in a 37-34 Pac-12 thriller on Saturday night, Nix racked up over 300 all-purpose yards and three total touchdowns in the losing effort. We’ll have to see how Heisman voters react to the Ducks losing and how much that his affects his position in the rankings. Regardless of the Heisman, it’s been an unbelievable year for Nix and quite a resurrection of his college football career. Both he and Oregon offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham should be proud of the numbers they’ve accomplished thus far.

He was outdueled by Washington’s prolific quarterback, Michael Penix, Jr. Penix threw for the most passing yards that any quarterback in school history has ever thrown for against Oregon on Saturday night–tossing for 408 yards, while throwing in two touchdowns and one interception. The interception that he threw could have proven to be costly, but the Washington defense stepped up in the critical moments when they needed to prevail.
Nix and the Oregon Ducks will look to rebound on Nov. 19, as they face their nemesis of the past few years, the Utah Utes. Utah throttled the Ducks in the regular season last year, 38-7. We’ll see if Oregon can get over the mental hurdle.
