He beat out Ben Gulbranson and Gabarri Johnson. On the Beavers’ official depth chart, Gulbranson will serve as McCoy’s backup to begin the year.
McCoy will replace last year’s starter, DJ Uiagalelei, who has since transferred to Florida State. His debut came against Georgia Tech in Dublin during Week 0, where the Seminoles fell to Brent Key’s Yellow Jackets 24-21 on a game-winning field goal as time expired.
For Oregon State, they begin the 2024 college football season at home against Idaho State as they look to navigate their new two-team Pac-12 prediciment. After a meeting with San Diego State in Week 2 — they’ll be gearing up for a non-conference rivalry matchup against the Oregon Ducks.
