Maui Invitational announces field for 2025 tournament

The field for the 2025 Maui Invitational has been revealed. The tournament has several big-name programs coming in as Baylor, NC State, Oregon, Texas, UNLV, USC, Seton Hall and Chaminade will be playing in Maui.

The 2025 Maui Invitational will be played at the historic Lahaina Civic Center Nov. 24-26, 2025.

The eight programs taking part in the event have combined for 19 Final Fours and five national championships. That includes NC State, who made a surprise run to the Final Four this past season.

This will be Baylor’s third trip to the Maui Invitational. The Bears most recently played there in 2013. Baylor is coming off of a 24-11 season under Scott Drew, who was rumored to be a serious candidate for the Kentucky job, before choosing to stay in Waco.

Division II program Chaminade is the yearly host for the tournament. The Silverswords finished with a 10-18 record last season.

As mentioned, NC State is the one team in the field that made the Final Four last year. The Wolfpack won five straight games in the ACC Tournament and four more in the Big Dance to reach the Final Four.

Oregon is another program in the Maui Invitational field that has enjoyed postseason success. The Ducks reached the Final Four in 2017 and have reached the Sweet 16 four times since 2016.

Seton Hall just missed out on an NCAA Tournament berth this season, before going on to win the NIT.

Texas will be making its sixth trip to the Maui Invitational, which includes in 2020 when the Longhorns won the tournament. Texas was a No. 7 seed in the 2024 NCAA Tournament and advanced to the second round before falling to No. 2 seed Tennessee.

UNLV will be making its fifth trip to the Maui Invitational. The Rebels missed out on the NCAA Tournament this past season but did win a couple of games in the NIT.

Finally, USC will be playing in the Maui Invitational, likely with head coach Eric Musselman at the helm. Musselman came over from Arkansas this offseason to lead the Trojans program.

As for the 2024 Maui Invitational, which will be held Nov. 25-27 of 2024, Auburn, Colorado, Dayton, Iowa State, Memphis, Michigan State, North Carolina and UConn are set to compete in it.

The Huskies have won each of the past two national titles after knocking off Purdue in the national championship game this past season. These next two Maui Invitationals should be incredibly entertaining.
