The Georgia Bulldogs took care of business and handled Tennessee Tech on Saturday, as expected. The Bulldogs cruised to a 48-3 blowout victory, unfortunately, they had to deal with a number of players getting injured, including star tight end Oscar Delp and freshman running back Nate Frazier.

Delp suffered an ankle injury and had to leave the game with 2:49 remaining in the first half. The star tight end appeared to get rolled up on by running back Cash Jones, and he walked gingerly to the sidelines on his own power. He returned to the game for a few snaps after that, but once the team came out of the locker room after halftime, Delp was in street clothes. Following the game, Kirby Smart updated the status of his star tight end. “Yeah, he had a slight ankle sprain. So, we’ll see. I thought he coulda gone but you know, he didn’t have to,” Smart explained. “Held him at halftime.”

One of the plays who turned heads during fall camp is five-star freshman running back Nate Frazier, one of the most prized recruits in the 2024 cycle and the No. 2 running back in the class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. And Frazier has wasted little time making an impact with the Bulldogs, scoring a rushing touchdown in his college debut last week against Clemson.

Frazier received treatment from trainers for what appeared to be a right shoulder injury. After his sixth carry on the day, Frazier came up and headed to the sideline. He finished with 28 yards on Saturday, after his impressive debut last week against Clemson. Following the win, Smart also updated his status. “Yeah, he could have come back. Ended up holding him out, making sure it was his shoulder, but I don’t know what significance.”

The nation’s No. 2 running back prospect in the 2024 On3 Industry Rankings, Frazier has impressed early, even though his Georgia career has just gotten started. He drew plenty of buzz in fall camp practices and scrimmages. For those who watched him in the 2024 US Army All-American Game, it’s not a surprise. It’ll be exciting to see how Bulldogs’ coaches utilize his skills moving forward.

Georgia was without a couple of players expected to be key contributors for the Bulldogs this season on the defensive side of the ball. Mykel Williams (ankle), Jordan Hall (leg) and Xzavier McLeod (undisclosed) were all sidelined with various injuries. None of them were unexpected. Warren Brinson (ankle) dressed but did not play after suffering a contusion against Clemson. The same is true for running back Roderick Robinson (toe) who was seen on a scooter wearing a wrap on his foot after undergoing surgery ahead of the season.
