Overtime, Cam Newton launching new high school 7-on-7 league
One year after launching Overtime Elite for high school basketball players, Overtime has announced its second high school sports league: OT7.
OT7 will be a seven-on-seven football league that takes place this June in Las Vegas. Games will star June 6 and run through the rest of the week featuring pool play followed by an elimination tournament.
Unlike Overtime Elite players, OT7 participants will not be paid. There will be 24 teams in the league.
2015 NFL MVP and 2010 Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton is serving as an investor and advisor for the new league.
“I have spent the better part of the last 15 years dedicated to bettering the lives of young football players through 7 on 7 football. 7 on 7 was an invaluable outlet to me growing up, and many professional football players would not be where they are today without that exposure and training in the spring,” Newton said in a statement. “I felt that now was the time to leverage my knowledge of the space and partner with Overtime to give 7 on 7 the exposure and investment it deserves.”

There will be docu-series on each team, as well as different features, highlights, individual competitions and more.
Everything from the event will be shared over Overtime’s social media channels, which ranked up over 50 million followers.
“As a company, we continue to create, invest in and grow disruptive sports IP that rethinks the athlete and fan experience for the physical and the digital world,” Overtime CEO Dan Porter said in a statement. “OT7 will introduce fans to highly competitive 7-on-7 football and bring them closer to the next generation football stars through Overtime’s storytelling.”
