Overtime Elite signs 2025 sharpshooter Eli Ellis
Class of 2025 recruit Eli Ellis has signed a scholarship with the Overtime Elite league (OTE).
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound guard will forgo a salary in order to maintain his college eligibility. Ellis has accepted OTE’s secondary option of a scholarship. This allows him to play, train, and participate in their league, while also being able to profit off of his name, image, and likeness.
The Hickory, N.C. native boasts over 125,000 followers on Instagram, a number that continues to grow.
His social following is equally as impressive as his play. As a freshman last season at Moravian Prep (N.C.), Ellis averaged 21.9 points per game, according to Max Preps.
Ellis holds early scholarship offers from South Carolina, West Virginia, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech, amongst others.
“Eli plays with a confidence and swagger on the court no matter the opponent,” said Tim Fuller, VP Recruiting and Player Personnel. “His deep range and overall toughness is something that will elevate our league even more over the next couple of years as he continues to get better in our program.”
“Eli’s ability to make shots while also having a willingness to keep his teammates involved in the offense makes him a dangerous point guard,” said Kevin Ollie, OTE Director of Player Development. “With his confidence on and off the floor, Eli could make an impact in our program right away, and we’ll continue to work with him to help take his game to the next level.”
Eli Ellis on his decision to join Overtime Elite
“I chose OTE because I felt like it was time for me to experience something new,” Ellis said to On3. “I wanted to challenge myself to get better as a player mentally and physically. Also to be able to work and train like a pro to get to that next level.”
Eli and his younger brother, 2026 guard Isaac Ellis, have their own Overtime series on YouTube named “Family Business.” Each episode has hundreds of thousands of views.
