Overtime OT7 Finals: Day 1 Top Performers

Cody Bby:Cody Bellaire06/15/23

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Hundreds of Power Five prospects and dozens of blue-chippers from the 2024, 2025 and 2026 cycles are in Los Angeles this weekend for Overtime’s OT7 7-on-7 tournament. The event kicked off Thursday afternoon and will run through Sunday afternoon.

The setting allows for a direct comparison of the nation’s top 2024, 2025 and 2026 wide receivers, defensive backs, linebackers, tight ends and running backs in 7-on-7 action. We’re able to get a sense for some of the physical tools, passing ability and level of development of the participants. This order is based solely on the performances from Thursday.

Top talent competing in Overtime OT7 Finals | Day 1 Live Updates

On3 MVP: WR Jeremiah McClellan

Jeremiah McClellan was borderline unstoppable during Day 1 of the OT7 Finals. He put on a masterclass when it came to coming down with contested catches and finding the endzone. McClellan reeled in 5 touchdowns on the day and one of them was an absurd one-handed grab in the back corner of the endzone.

He was fed the football consistently in must-convert situations and was the engine that pushed Cali Power to an undefeated 3-0 record. His body type allows him to play as a slot, Z or X type wide receiver due to his thickness throughout his frame and his plus length. McClellan showed he can win at all levels of the field and that he is more than capable of being a true number one wide receiver no matter where you line him up.

The Saint Louis (Mo.) Christian Brothers College four-star wide receiver is heavily trending towards Ohio State according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). He was in Columbus last weekend for an official visit and has another at the end of the month to Oregon.

2. WR Elijah Moore

The biggest mismatch on the field during Day 1 of the OT7 Finals was undoubtedly Elijah Moore. He scored 4 touchdowns on the day, 3 of them coming in one game. One of the most physically imposing players to take the field, Moore showed off his immensely strong hands and the ability to play above the rim. He turned 50/50 balls into 80/20 balls by climbing up the ladder and plucking the ball out of the air with little to no effort. Moore has some polishing to work on with his game in terms of route running, but when you are talking about pure mismatches? Moore was the definition of one today.

3. WR Josiah Booker

If I had to select an MVP for the slot receiver position today, Josiah Booker would be it. His ability to get in and out of his breaks was second to none this afternoon. Booker scored 3 touchdowns on the day and was consistently fed the football for 24K. Shifty, twitchy, juiced up… whatever you want to call it he has it. But not only is he a terrific athlete and route runner, he catches the ball away from his frame consistently and plucks the ball effortlessly. Obviously he will have limitations at the next level due to his size, but when it comes to getting open and catching the football? He has it, and at the end of the day that’s the most important thing you can ask for out of the wide receiver position.

4. WR I’Marion Stewart

Midwest Boom was very strong defensively throughout the day, but it was I’Marion Stewart that shined for them on the offensive side of the football. He has such natural hands and is so fluid with his movements. He gets in and out of his breaks efficiently and has borderline no wasted movement when he runs his routes. Lets the ball into his chest a little more often than you’d like, but he always seems to work his way open. He was an extremely reliable option for Midwest Boom today and I expect him to continue to be so throughout the event.

5. WR Zycarl Lewis – Colorado

This data isn’t available, but if you asked me who had the highest target share of any single receiver from their team it had to have been Zycarl Lewis. He was force fed the football for The Legends all day long and he made the most of his opportunities. He was able to punch it in the endzone three times and he flashed his ability to separate from defenders at an extremely high level. Not only could he separate at the line of scrimmage, but he was also able to pull away and beat pursuit angles with the ball in his hands. His ability to make defenders miss in a phone booth was on full display throughout the afternoon. Lewis is an extremely crafty wideout that had an impressively productive Day 1 of the OT7 Finals.

6. WR Dakorien Moore, 2025

Dakorien Moore was one of the most explosive players out on the field today. He may not have had the most productive showing, but he strikes fear into opposing defenses. He was constantly facing stacked coverages and was hardly left in one-on-one scenarios, but he was able to show off his burst and change of direction when he was fed the ball underneath. He also consistently showed the ability to stack corners off the line of scrimmage despite limited downfield targets. Moore had significant flashes today and deserved a spot on this list because of them.

7. ATH Courtney Crutchfield – Arkansas

If Josiah Booker was doing the majority of his damage on underneath and intermediate routes, Courtney Crutchfield was giving defenses hell down the seam and down the sidelines. He had multiple explosive plays in the middle of the field and downfield which showed his impressive ball tracking and the ability to play vertically. Crutchfield had a couple of drops he would like to get back, but overall his ability to stretch the field and create big plays for 24K was paramount to the team’s offensive success today.

8. WR Kwazi Gilmer

There were plenty of passes to go around for Cali Power today. And even though McClellan may have received MVP, he should definitely be thanking Kwazi Gilmer for demanding some attention on the other side of the field. Gilmer came down with 2 touchdowns this afternoon and made numerous big plays throughout the day. He genuinely may be the most natural pass catcher out here at this event and he put it on display early and often. Gilmer may have played second-fiddle today, but we could see him have some exciting moments as this tournament continues.

9. Five-Star Plus+ WR Jeremiah Smith – Ohio State

Jeremiah Smith may have had limited production today, but my goodness is he a treat to watch. His size/speed combination is unmatched out here at the OT7 Finals. His ability to get vertical and separate from defenders downfield combined with his fluidity and crisp route running is rare. Even during warmups you can see just how strong his hands are as he plucks the ball away from his frame. It only takes a few reps to see why he is touted as one of the top pass catchers in the country.

10. LB Gabriel Williams – Virginia Tech

The lone defensive player to make the list today was Level82 linebacker Gabriel Williams. The first thing that stuck out to me when I noticed Williams was his length. He truly is an albatross in the middle of the field. His range is absurd and he is able to cover more ground than anyone else in the middle of the field. He had multiple pass breakups today as he able to simply “get in the way” more efficiently than most. Not only is he long, but he closes to the ball extremely well. Williams made multiple stops closing the gap to the sideline quickly and with ease. He definitely made his presence felt throughout the entire afternoon.

Additional notes on Overtime OT7 Standouts

+ There were plenty of players that had great performances during Day 1 of the OT7 Finals but were right there on the fringe when it came to deciding the top performers of the day. Players like Jonah Williams, Luke Williams, Chris Ewald, Matai Tagoa’i, Devin Sanchez and Joey O’Brien all played their tails off on the defensive side of the ball and had tremendous flashes all throughout the afternoon.

+ Offensively, you had players like Zechariah Sample, Kyan Berry, KJ Duff and Kamare Williams step up in big moments to help their teams move the ball downfield or find the end zone for a clutch score or two.

+ The quarterbacks were up and down all day it seemed like, but Madden Iamaleava, Deuce Knight, Alessio Milivojevic, Bear Bachmeier and Ty McCutcheon had bright spots and made some big time throws.
