Top storylines heading into Overtime OT7 Finals
Dozens of blue-chip prospects will make their way to Tampa this week to take part in the OT7 Finals – the championship of Overtime’s 7-on-7 league. The event will feature double-digit select 7-on-7 teams with play running from Friday to Sunday. Many of the nation’s top skill prospects from the 2025 and 2026 cycles are set to attend, making for what should be one of the more talent-rich events of the summer.
Given the nature of 7-on-7, the skill players and defensive backs will account for the vast majority of prospects on hand. The three-day tournament should provide ample opportunities for On3 to get a close look at top prospects over the next several recruiting cycles. Also note that the rosters are very fluid as players can come and go over the course of the tournament.
With that in mind, here’s some top storylines entering the OT7 Finals.
Sunshine State WR’s lead the way
The top three wide receiver prospects slated to be on hand all hail from the state of Florida – Oregon commit Dallas Wilson (No. 18 in the On300), Vernell Brown III (No. 46) and Jaime Ffrench (No. 55). The OT7 Finals will provide another up close, in-person evaluation point for the trio of high-end pass catchers.
Wilson, whose attendance could be up in the air due to potential college visits, is a big-bodied outside target with plus size at around 6-foot-3, 195 pounds. His combination of functional movement skills and contested catch ability make him one of the more well-rounded receivers in the cycle. Should Wilson be able to make it to the OT7 Finals, we’re eager to see how he stacks up in the competitive setting among the bevy of blue-chip receivers. The Tampa native has been committed to Oregon for 16 months but teams continue to push. He’s expected in Texas this week for a midweek visit and could be at Miami this weekend with officials to Florida, Oregon and Florida State scheduled in June.
Vernell Brown III and Jaime Ffrench are teammates at the OT7 Finals. Both are expected to make big plays over the course of the weekend. Brown has raised his stock as much as any wideout nationally this off-season, on the heels of a breakout junior season at Orlando (Fla.) Jones. The 5-foot-10.5, 170-pounder has a case as the best after-the-catch wideout in the cycle and is highly dangerous with the ball in his hands. He’s proven to be a three-level threat during the off-season and we’re eager to see if his heater continues at the OT7 Finals. Brown is fresh of an official visit to Ohio State and will trip Florida’s Big 3 – Miami (June 11), Florida (June 14) and Florida State (June 21) later this month.
Ffrench is one of the more well-known wideouts in the cycle. He’s a high-level route-runner and operates with an advanced level of technical polish. Few receivers have been more present at camps and 7-on-7’s over the course of the past two years. We’re looking forward to seeing how Ffrench stacks up with the deep group at the position. The Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin standout is coming off an official visit to LSU and is set to visit his named leader, Texas, later in June.
Talyn Taylor (No. 72), Cortez Mills (No. 107), Donovan Olugbode (No. 174), LSU commit TaRon Francis (No. 225), USC commit Romero Ison (No. 228), Marcus Harris (No. 230) and Phillip Bell (No. 233) are other On300 wideouts expected to attend.
5-star CB DJ Pickett to man up against top wide receivers
Five-Star Plus+ cornerback DJ Pickett enters as the highest-ranked prospect at the OT7 Finals. At 6-foot-4, 180 pounds with elite length and plus athleticism, Pickett has top shelf traits for the position. He primarily plays safety and wide receiver at Zephyrhills (Fla.) High, so the setting should afford us with one of our first opportunities to see him on an island against top receivers. The movement skills and coordination Pickett has shown are favorable indicators for ability in man coverage, but given the circumstances of his role on his high school team, we have yet to have a ton of exposure to him playing as a true corner. That should change this weekend at the OT7 Finals. Should Pickett fare well in this setting, he would further his case as the top corner in the cycle.
The touted Tampa area native is coming off an official visit to LSU and has officials to Miami and Oregon coming up later in the month.
Who raises their stock at DB?
After DJ Pickett, there are several more blue chip cornerbacks expected to be on hand at the OT7 Finals. The setting will present the opportunity for a corner or group of corners to make a move up in the rankings with a strong showing.
This will be our first opportunity to see LSU commit Jaboree Antoine (No. 61) this offseason as his junior season ended early due to injury. Texas A&M commit Adonyss Currie (No. 65) is a tall, fast corner who has high-end traits for the position. Clemson commit Graceson Littleton (No. 110) has been a steady riser this off-season and runs well. Notre Dame commit Dallas Golden (No. 124) is ranked as a safety but could end up playing corner in South Bend, so we’ll be watching to see how he stacks up. Chris Ewald Jr. (No. 217) is a battle-tested defender. USC commit Trestin Castro (No. 281) moved into the On300 following a strong off-season.
We’ll be keeping an eye on all cornerbacks throughout the weekend, but prospects from that group in particular are ones who could ascend with great showings.
Another look at blue-chip quarterbacks
We will see the majority of the top 2025 quarterback prospects in a few weeks at the Elite 11 Finals. The OT7 Finals will serve as a bit of a preview for some, as a handful of blue-chip 2025 signal callers are expected to be on hand.

Notre Dame commit Deuce Knight (No. 54) enters as the highest-ranked 2025 quarterback expected. The Irish pledge is physically gifted. We’ll be looking to see where he’s at from a consistency perspective at the OT7 Finals.
TCU commit Ty Hawkins (No. 87) has probably had the best showing on the 7-on-7 circuit among blue-chip 2025 quarterbacks. Hawkins isn’t scared to stick throws into tight windows and plays with a poise in this setting. Based on how he’s performed to this point in the off-season, we expect him to continue his run of success on the 7-on-7 circuit.
UCLA commit Madden Iamaleava (No. 148) won’t be at the Elite 11 Finals, so we’re eager to get another in-person evaluation to get a gauge for where he stacks up within the group from an arm talent perspective.
No. 1 overall prospect and LSU commit Bryce Underwood was initially expected to play, but that appears to be unlikely.
Skill evaluations for RB’s and TE’s
In addition to the wide receivers, we’re excited to get eyes on the top running backs and tight ends expected at the OT7 Finals.
The setting can provide a good look at the pass catching ability of running backs, an increasingly important part of the skill set when evaluating the position in today’s game.
LSU commit Harlem Berry (No. 11) ranks as On3’s top running back in the 2025 cycle and was electric at OT7’s Orlando regional a few weeks back. The OT7 Finals will give us another opportunity to see the Louisiana native in person.
Ousmane Kromah (No. 75) is a big-bodied, physical back with plus receiving skills. Texas commit James Simon (No. 115) is a polished, versatile back with three down ability. We’re eager to size up LSU commit JT Lindsey (No. 157), a one-time On3 Outlier who has strong junior film and athleticism.
At tight end, Arizona state commit AJ la (No. 118), Vander Ploog (No. 140) and DaSaahn Brame (No. 184) lead the way. This will be our first chance to see Ia in a neutral setting and we’re looking forward to seeing how he stacks up both physically and athletically. Ploog has been a stock up prospect for much of the off-season after a breakout junior campaign. Brame is a long-time blue-chip prospect with size and athleticism.
