Pac-12 announces major change on Tuesday
The Pac-12 Conference announced their new location for the conference’s headquarters, in a change that is sure to make their staff very happy. The Pac-12 will be switching their operations to a work-from-home arrangement, saving money for the universities by not paying for a physical office. Additionally, the conference announced their ongoing work to find a suitable broadcast and production facility beyond 2023.
Pac-12 changes headquarters location
“The Pac-12 is moving its headquarters to… home,” explained The Athletic’s Chris Vannini. “Moving to a remote work environment, meant to be more flexible. Pac-12 HQ has been in San Francisco, where the cost to rent is absurdly high, reportedly $6.9 million in 2019.”
The change was voted on by the Pac-12 Board of Directors and passed unanimously, as a move that will provide savings to the conference and help staff remain flexible in their work. The conference’s official statement on the change detailed their plans to use regular meetings at key locations in the Pac-12, including campuses themselves, as a way to have the conference still do in-person work while strengthening their ties to the entire region.
“The Pac-12 Conference announced today plans to move to an ongoing flexible and remote work environment to best support Pac-12 staff and deliver more revenue back to member universities to support student-athletes,” read the Pac-12’s official statement.

“The decision, approved unanimously by the Pac-12 Board of Directors, is designed to provide Pac-12 staff with the benefits of work flexibility while also envisioning regular opportunities for employees to come together in person within the Pac-12 geographic footprint, including at Pac-12 campuses to foster greater collaboration with member universities.
“In addition to the remote work environment, the Pac-12 will continue to support and invest in its state-of-the-art broadcast and content production, including relocating to a new production facility after the end of the Conference’s current lease in June 2023. The location for the new production facility has not yet been determined.”
