Paris 2024 Olympics final medal count by NCAA conference
The 2024 Paris Olympics came to an end Sunday with the closing ceremony taking place, meaning the medal count by NCAA conference is now final.
The ACC took home the crown with 89 either former or current athletes from the conference receiving medals, including 36 with gold medals. The SEC wasn’t too far behind, however, with 80 overall medalists and 33 golds. The Big Ten was next with 78 as the three conferences dominated the medal count.
You can view the full medal count for the 2024 Paris Olympics by conference below.
Atlantic Coast Conference: 89
36 gold, 24 silver, 29 bronze
The addition of Stanford really helped the medal count for the ACC here, as the Cardinal led the way with a school-record 39 medalists. Another newcomer to the conference, California also added 19 medals as the schools combined to make up more than half of the total.
USA swimmer Katie Ledecky, a Stanford alum, won four more medals and two gold. Fellow swimmer Torri Huske took home three gold medals as well as two silvers to lead the way. Elsewhere, former Duke basketball player Jayson Tatum won gold with the Team USA men, while former Notre Dame star Jackie Young did so with the women’s team.
Southeastern Conference: 80
33 gold, 28 silver, 19 bronze
The SEC came in just behind the ACC with 33 gold medals and finished with a respectable 80 overall. Former Florida swimmer Caeleb Dressel won three total, as did former Georgia swimmer Nic Fink and Auburn gymnast Suni Lee.
Track and field athletes accounted for 39 of the conference’s medals and put on some stunning performances. That included former LSU runner Sha’Carri Richardson, who came from behind to help the USA to gold in the women’s 4×100 relay.
Big Ten: 78
23 gold, 25 silver, 30 bronze
The Big Ten came in just behind the SEC in total medal count but would finish with more than 50 more medals than the next highest conference. The top three conferences accounted for 247 medals overall and 92 golds.

The Big Ten had all 18 schools represented at the 2024 Olympic Games. Former Oregon runner Cole Hocker won gold in the men’s 1,500-meter and Lily King of Indiana helped win the women’s 4×100 medley relay in swimming. Four members of the Team USA women’s basketball team that won gold were also from the Big Ten, including Sabrina Ionescu (Oregon) and Kelsey Plum (Washington).
Big 12: 27
11 gold, 6 silver, 8 bronze
The Big 12 certainly missed Oklahoma and Texas to help its medal count as it finished well behind the other three conferences. It was still a respectable showing with 11 gold medalists, including former Kansas center Joel Embiid with the USA men’s basketball team.
Former Baylor center Brittney Griner also won gold with the women’s team, while Kansas State assistant coach Tara Davis-Woodhall won gold in the long jump. Former BYU athlete Kenneth Rooks also won silver in the Steeplechase with a big finish to make up for lost ground.
Ivy League: 15
10 gold, 3 silver, 2 bronze
Former Harvard runner Gabby Thomas led the way for the Ivy League with a total of three gold medals in the 2024 Paris Olympics. She not only helped the USA to wins in the 4×100 and 4×400 relays, but took home an individual honor in the women’s 200-meter race.
Former Harvard rower turned cyclist Kristen Faulkner also won two gold medals, one in the women’s road race and another in the women’s team pursuit. That helped the Ivy league to finish fifth in the Olympic medal count by NCAA conference with a total of 15.
