Houston Cy Springs four-star athlete Paris Melvin Jr. is a dynamic two-way playmaker who’s continuing to see his stock rise ahead of his senior season.
Over 20 Power Four programs have offered the 6-foot, 170-pounder. On Friday, he trimmed his list of top schools down to 10.
Melvin announced on Friday that Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, Florida, Florida State, Houston, Michigan, SMU, Oklahoma and Texas A&M have made the cut as he moves into the next phase of his recruitment.
Melvin is the No. 302 overall prospect and No. 23 athlete in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 42 player in Texas.
As a junior for Cy Springs, Melvin did it all. He ran the ball 147 times for 1,091 yards and 18 touchdowns. He also caught over 350 yards worth of passes and also threw for a touchdown. On the defensive side of the ball, Melvin had 13 tackles, an interception and four pass deflections, per MaxPreps.

Cy Springs won six games in 2024 competing in 6A Division II. The Panthers ranked as the No. 172 team in the state of Texas, according to the On3 Composite.
Melvin’s recruitment has been quiet on the visit front heading into the spring. Both Florida and Oklahoma had him on campus last year. The Gators made quite the impression back in the summer.
“I love the coaching staff. The real conversations they have with you and work required to be great every day (stands out),” Melvin told Gators Online. “The facilities look good and all, but I love the hard-hat mentality the coaches thrive to have with the players at Florida.”
As he gears up for a big senior season, Melvin will be one to watch as he continues to whittle down his list of top programs.
