Parker Friedrichsen talks visits; says hears most from Nebraska, Missouri, etc.
Parker Friedrichsen is the No. 118 ranked player in On3’s recent 2023 update. The 6-foot-3 guard is coming off a UAA Atlanta live period that saw him average 21.5 points, 3.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 45.5-percent from three on 55 attempts.
“I’m a combo guard,” Friedrichsen told On3. “I can play the point guard, and I’m a good shooter and can handle the pressure. Mainly I like winning, whatever my team needs. I watch a lot of Steph Curry and Trae Young – he is from Oklahoma too – those combo guards who can put the ball down but also have great shooting abilities.”
Since re-opening his recruitment in May, Friedrichsen has had a steady line of college coaches in contact. On3 caught up with Parker Friedrichsen in Atlanta to talk about his future visits and the state of his recruitment.
“Since opening back up,” Friedrichsen said. “I’ve heard the most from Nebraska, Virginia Tech, Creighton, and Missouri. I have all five of my senior year official visits left, and I plan to take each of them.”
Friedrichsen talks visits
Virginia Tech: “For one, they were ACC champions. But I love how Coach (Mike) Young uses his shooters, putting them in tons of actions because they run a lot of sets. They get their guys open, and it is cool to watch.”
Missouri: “The way they are recruiting me stands out. They got the job and reached out to me from the start. They have been pretty consistent with it too, so I definitely owe them a trip.”
Nebraska: “I’ve been recruited by them for a while, probably about a year now. I’m always up there; I’ve got family there. We talk quite a bit with them; they have been at most of my games.”

Creighton: “They just shoot the ball. They don’t care, they shoot, and they win. The Big East is a really cool basketball conference, and you get to go to a lot of really cool places. So I feel like that would be a really good fit.”
…on his de-commitment from Oklahoma State
“I just rushed my decision,” Friedrichsen said. “I think I cut the process short with that early commitment, and now I’m able to enjoy the process.”
Friedrichsen’s take
“I’ll be looking closely at how I relate to the coaching staff,” Friedrichsen said. “How I fit in with the program and the system. I want to go to a coaching staff who will have back, even on my worst day. And I’ll be looking at the atmosphere, a place where I want to be and go to school.
“I don’t want someone to tell me I am going to start or will be given a certain amount of minutes. I just want to know there will be an opportunity for me to get out there early if I earn it.”
