Suspects in Colorado locker room theft at Rose Bowl were on UCLA official visit
It was a bizarre scene at the Rose Bowl on October 28 following Colorado‘s 28-16 loss to UCLA as a multitude of Buffaloes’ players discovered that their jewelry had been stolen from the visiting locker room. Who stole the jewelry was unknown until Sunday, when Pasadena Police confirmed the suspects tied to the theft were high school recruits on an official visit to UCLA.
In their statement, the Pasadena Police revealed the high schoolers allegedly took thousands of dollars in valuables from both locker rooms including jewelry, headphones, and cash according to an initial report by The Coach JB Show which was confirmed by Pasadena Police detectives.
The names of the juveniles haven’t been released, but reports suggest that they attend Beaumont High School Riverside County.
A previous statement by Pasadena PD read that a few stolen items belonging to Colorado Buffaloes football players and staff have been recovered and returned as they’ll now work toward further investigating the robbery.
“Search warrants were executed, and additional information will be provided soon as the investigation progresses,” Pasadena Police said in its statement. “The Pasadena Police Department would like to thank those who reported leads to our tip line. The information and support are invaluable and play a crucial role in helping us ensure safety and security in our community. Our detectives worked diligently to follow up on all leads, which resulted in the quick execution of search warrants. The investigation will be ongoing. More information will follow as available.”
It’s been confirmed that Colorado players like Derrick McLendon, Jordan Domineck, and Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig had jewelry taken from their lockers last month, with a video circulating after the events of multiple Colorado players voicing their frustrations regarding their stolen belongings.
Colorado head coach Deion Sanders called for the Rose Bowl to reimburse his players for their stolen jewelry and other items following the incident saying, “This is the Rose Bowl. They say the Granddaddy of them all, right? I’m sure Granddaddy has some money.”

UCLA head coach Chip Kelly also commented on the matter on Monday following the incident right after he learned about the situation.
“I was just told walking over here, awful,” Kelly said. “The Pasadena Police were looking into it, but I literally just found out one minute ago. That’s awful for anybody. You would think that when you go anywhere that your valuables are safe. But I don’t know anything more than I literally just found out one second ago before I walked out here.”
It has not been confirmed why UCLA’s recruits were unsupervised and able to access Colorado’s locker room and personal items, with both UCLA athletics and the Rose Bowl committee declining to comment when asked to make statements.
UCLA faces rival USC this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET while the Buffaloes will visit Washington State in a matchup kicking off at 10:30 p.m. ET.
