Pat McAfee welcomed Nick Saban to the College GameDay crew with an unusual gesture: dancing with his wife. This past weekend, McAfee and Miss Terry hit the dance floor in an Irish pub, spinning around to some sweet string music.

The former Alabama head coach couldn’t help but smile watching the spectacle. After McAfee led Miss Terry back to her seat, Saban took the opportunity to brag about his beloved wife.

“She has been the love of my life and been — always made me better in everything we do,” Saban said. “We’re talking about seventh grade science camp is where we met. We went to different schools. So it’s not just the 52 years of being married. It was quite a few years before that.

“And she can dance, I will say that. She can step through it, that’s one of the few things we could do when we grew up. You know, they took the fire trucks out of the fire department, put the record player in, they had a dance on Friday night. But we’ve been a great team. She’s been a part of the team, a great recruiter and it’s been awesome.”

Miss Terry has been with Saban through every step of his career, providing the legendary coach with comfort and criticism, when necessary. The pair raised two children together, Nicholas and Kristen, and are the co-founders of the foundation Nick’s Kids, which has donated nearly $12 million to deserving organizations and causes.

Times are changing for Nick Saban

Now, Miss Terry will be with Saban for the next chapter in his storied career. After Saban retired from coaching in January, ESPN announced that he would be a host on College GameDay in the 2024 campaign. The 72-year-old also already covered the 2024 NFL Draft and the SEC Media Days.

On Saturday, Nick Saban revealed how his life has changed since accepting the job with ESPN.

“Well, you know, it’s very different,” Saban said. “It’s great to have the opportunity to see games, to be a part of football, to prepare for games. But this is the moment of truth for every college team.

“When you play your first game you’re always worried about, ‘How’s the quarterback going to play? How’s the defense going to play? What are our issues? What are our problems? What do we need to fix?’ And I don’t have to worry about that right now.”
