Pat McAfee Show to host live show, simulcast for Texas vs Alabama week 2 matchup

One of the most popular college football media types is taking his show on the road. Pat McAfee announced he’ll be traveling this fall on Monday.

The traveling Pat McAfee Show will be in Tuscaloosa for the Alabama–Texas game on Sept. 9.

“The first show that we will have live on a campus on a Friday & our first simulcast will be for Texas/Alabama week two dahn in Tuscaloosa,” McAfee posted on X.

He provided a similar statement on his actual show.

“We’d like to make an announcement,” McAfee said. “The first show that we will have live, on a campus on a Friday, this show, and our first simulcast is going to be that Texas-Alabama game, Week 2, down there in Alabama.”

McAfee’s show has become a smash success, drawing in thousands of eyeballs and making him one of the more loved personalities on the air. ESPN and McAfee agreed on a reported five-year, $85 million deal to bring his show to ESPN earlier this year, according to the New York Post.

It’s unclear whether ESPN’s flagship college football program, College GameDay, will be on campus that weekend for the Alabama-Texas game, but it’s probably a decent bet. If so, it’ll be interesting to see how the Pat McAfee Show and College GameDay balance set locations and air times.

Adding to the possible synergies — and/or challenges — is the fact that McAfee is an analyst for College GameDay. He might have to do some quick travel in the event the two shows aren’t broadcasting from the same location.

In either case, ESPN has been happy to add McAfee to its talented roster and it’ll be interesting to see what the Pat McAfee Show can produce in Tuscaloosa.

He and his team have built The Pat McAfee Show into one of the most engaging programs in sports and all of media,” ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitaro said in a statement when the deal was announced. “It’s a destination for athlete interviews and breaking news, and the centerpiece of a growing community of sports fans. We’re honored to bring Pat and the show to ESPN through a multifaceted, multiplatform approach.”

With all eyes on Texas vs Alabama in week 2, it’s no surprise that McAfee will be doing his thing in Tuscaloosa. Now, it’s just a matter of who else will join him for the huge early-season matchup.
