Pat McAfee takes shot at 'Big Noon Kickoff' to start ESPN's 'College GameDay' prior to Penn State-Ohio State
Pat McAfee is one of the main attractions for college football coverage at this point and he took a shot at a rival show. The College GameDay host referred to FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff at the start of Saturday’s show.
FOX is broadcasting the Penn State–Ohio State game Saturday, at 12 p.m. ET, naturally. Because of that, there were complaints from some fans about the early start and the game not being in prime time.
Well, McAfee put the onus on Big Noon Kickoff in quite the clever way. He didn’t hide his allegiances either. You can see it in the video below.
“Cut my hair on my bus this morning, it’s an honor to be in this town,” McAfee began. “You know, old legend says that back during the Great Depression, if you were to go a few miles west of here, they would say a couple miles east of here is a Valley of Happiness. Now they call this place Happy Valley, and then obviously the City State College and the school’s Penn State, but all these people were football people.
“This is a town that has PTSD because of these games in the past, but this year, it feels different. This year, this game, I can’t wait to hear how this goes, this game will be, this game is not at night, this is a big noon kickoff. Kind of a mixed reaction. I don’t think there’s any people at their set. That’s on them, not on us. All I know is after today, that football team, these fans, are going to be proud to say ‘We Are …’ Thank you.”

Pat McAfee roasts ‘Big Noon Kickoff’ ahead of Penn State-Ohio State
McAfee does not shy away from drama or stirring the pot. So it remains to be seen if Big Noon Kickoff will respond or sweep it under the rug.
But McAfee knows how big this Penn State-Ohio State game is. Two top four teams battling for the top of the Big Ten and college football itself? Sign us up.
“The winning coach here is going to be in a great position. Things are going to be going well. They’re looking into the future,” fellow GameDay analyst Kirk Herbstreit stated. “(The) team that loses, the coach that loses — these guys that are cheering right now, there’s going to be a wrath for Penn State or Ohio State. Ryan Day is 2-7 against top five teams. If he loses his game, the Buckeye faithful are going to let — Ohio State fans (are going to) let him know. And if you look at what we’ve done here, I think what is (James Franklin), 1-12 against the top five?
“So, someone’s going to put a lot of that behind them, and someone’s going to have to continue to deal with it.”
