During his “Field Pass” broadcast on ESPN2 for the College Football Playoff national championship Monday night, Pat McAfee teased some guests would make appearances throughout. One did in the second quarter — and McAfee gave him quite an introduction.

“Holy hell, Tim Tebow is here,” McAfee said as the camera showed Tebow walking up.

Tebow, the former Florida quarterback and current SEC Network analyst, started roaming the sidelines alongside McAfee and A.J. Hawk as Georgia took on TCU in the title game. He was the first guest to join the broadcast, and McAfee sounded more than excited to have him aboard.

“You can feel him before you see him, and the thing that you feel is absolute greatness,” McAfee said. “Are you kidding me?

Monday was a big day for Tebow, who found out he was going to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. A two-time national champion, he was on the broadcast as Stetson Bennett ran in his second touchdown of the game to put Georgia ahead 24-7 over TCU with 8:30 to play in the first half.

“He’s obsessed with the game,” Tebow said. “He studied it so much. He has so much experience and he’s a better athlete than people give him credit for.”

Tim Tebow is a Hall of Famer. The former Florida quarterback found out on the air Monday he was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in his first year on the ballot.

Tebow was on the air during ESPN’s “Championship Drive” when Joe Tessitore told him the news. Steve Hatchell, the president of the National Football Foundation, was on hand to present Tebow with his Hall of Fame football.

“Did you guys plan this?” Tebow joked.

“Honestly, it’s just so humbling,” Tebow said after receiving the honor. “Thank you. So many people were a huge part of this. … This is a humbling award, but this goes to all of my teammates that I got the chance to play with.”

Tebow is the 10th Florida player to go into the Hall of Fame and is the seventh Gator to be inducted since 2006. His career in Gainesville included a Heisman Trophy, two national championships and a BCS national championship game MVP award.
