Paul Finebaum chooses who would win in a fight: Uga or Smokey
With Tennessee and Georgia’s matchup set for tomorrow, the game has been analyzed to death for a week now. Everyone has broken down the key matchups and focus points that will determine the outcome of the game. Some, though, have taken it a step further and have made it a battle between two of college sport’s greatest dog mascots. In the end, Paul Finebaum joined in the discussion and had to make the tough call between the two.
Finebaum shared his thoughts on Uga vs. Smokey in an interview with Dawgs HQ. In his eyes, Finebaum selected Uga as top dog because of his more friendly nature.

“I think I like Uga because I’ve had a lot of encounters with these two before. I find Smokey (to be) one of the quirkiest dogs I’ve ever been around. And I love dogs. I can get down on the ground with Uga and have him act like a dog,” said Finebaum. “It’s the blue tick hound. I know Tennessee fans won’t like to hear that (but) they’re just not the friendliest dog…I don’t even think Smokey fights back. I think Smokey says you can have the bone.”
Of all the compliments and criticism these two teams have received this season, this might be the ultimate jab to their program in the Vol’s eyes from Finebaum. While both dogs are more than deserving of best in show, though, only one can lead a victorious team when both their schools take the field.

Alas, the world may know who Luke Bryan is riding with on Saturday, but you’ll have to tune in to see who Kirk Herbstreit and the gang are riding with. It should be a tremendous show with a raucous crowd in Athens.
