Paul Finebaum unleashes on Deion Sanders after 'ass kicking' vs. Nebraska: 'There is no path forward'
Paul Finebaum didn’t hold back this time on Deion Sanders following Colorado’s 28-10 loss to Nebraska Saturday night.
As the ESPN commentator put it, don’t let the final score fool you. This was an “ass kicking.”
Falling behind 28-0 at halftime was pretty much all she wrote and Finebaum said Sanders’ team was once again, “all glitz.”
“I hated Matt Rhule as a professional coach, but I’ve always admired him as a college coach,” Finebaum said on The Matt Barrie Show. “That’s who he is, and he’s taken some shots, but he’s built a really good program. Deion Sanders has not. Deion Sanders, it’s all glitz. He’s all Hollywood. He’s all show. And if you take away all the boot lickers around him from RG3 on down, what does he have?
“He’s got two or three or maybe four, sensational players and a revolving door that showed up last night on the line of scrimmage, which is where college football is won or lost. And the score is completely deceiving … It was just a flat out ass kicking.”

What is next for Sanders and Colorado? Well, it’s rival Colorado State but the shine certainly wore off of the team from Boulder after last year and last night.
That’s how Finebaum sees it considering this is about as good as it gets in his mind.
“There is no path forward, and I felt like this year, in spite of all the questions that we’ve gotten, hey, are they a playoff team,” Finebaum said. “Now it’s down after two weeks. Are they a Bowl team? And I’m not even sure they are. I mean, I tried to do the math early this morning, and I mean, it’s possible, but it’s probably not likely, and that’s really what we’re talking about. We’re wasting good air time (on) … whether or not a program in Boulder, Colorado can possibly, in a tier two league, get to a bowl game. Which means absolutely nothing to a big name program in the age of the playoff.”
Finebaum doesn’t think Sanders is long for Colorado at this point. These could be the waning days.
“And it’s foolish,” Finebaum said. “But you know, we’re all married to Deion and I’m sure as soon as Deion realizes that the bright lights are moving away from him, which they are moving away from him, he’ll leak a story or two to one of his podcast friends that he’s going to be the next Cowboys coach.”
